Ok, so I am on my lap top so I can share a couple pics of my cake for my father. Mind you- the people are very cartoonish/amateure....lol The rocks came out fabulous though...lol In person they look absolutely real. My dad is a big kid and likes things like this, so it's appropriet...lol I plan to add some little colorful flowers before the party tomorrow cause it does need a little color.

Oh I love it. Can you come do our cakes lol. It looks like its been professionally done!

Hey guys I have a question.. I have a hen in our nesting box with about 10 eggs underneath her lol. She doesn't fluff or growl when I pet her but when we sat an egg in front of her she tucked it underneath her. Is she broody or just collecting eggs lol

I really wish there was a chicken person around like that lol. It's weird because the antibiotics don't seem to be working for the cochin. They are still acting the sickest but strangely they are still eating and drinking fine. The only symptom is droopy wings, lethargy and even the diarrhea has died down. They just don't seem to be improving. The welsummers are in the same bin. They seemed sick at first bit now are just fine. Still in the same bin but not sick at all. I really am starting to think this is something they may have hatched with them..

I would try treating them Cochins for cocci. It won't hurt them. Maybe do a low dose of corid. I have the pic of the dosing info, if you want it. I had one awhile back, poop was good but she was acting out of it, puffed up, droopy wings, I treated everyone with a dose just to be on the safe side, followed by a week of extra vits.

Thanks.. He actually had to have MRIs done today and I've been trying to get things done for his party Sat. I. Just finished his cake. I'll share a couple pics, tomorrow since I can't figure out what I am doing on the IPad but don't laugh at my people...lol I am not a people molder, and modeling chocolate and summer heat don't mix.

Ok...some wonderful person on here said they would walk me through my next hatch. Here are my eggs. They came yesterday in the mail.

they been resting on cupboard since 2:00 yesterday.

here's my incubator I plugged it in before I went to bed to get it ready.

So now what?

First thing I would do is calibrate a separate thermometer & hygrometer and then put both in the incubator so you can check and see how accurate the readings are. I only let shipped eggs rest 12 hours and then I set them in the cartons in the incubator (pointy end down) and I don't touch them for 24 hours. Then, as Amy said, my plan would go by how the air cells look!! Candle them gently and check on how big the air cells look and how damaged they are. Do they wobble side to side? Or do they totally float around the egg?...all the way or half way?

How long has she been in there? Some of my girls spend hours in the nest box. But if they spend 24+ hours then most likely broody.

I'm not sure. I know she wasn't there yesterday. However I know she did steal the other chickens eggs lol. We collect the eggs everyday. She has all the fake eggs and every other chickens eggs underneath here lol. This is new behavior. Usually they lay an egg and run out. We just put our oldest chicks in the grow out pen. Wondering if that may have started something..

Do they have the corrid at tractor supply? Also I'm pretty sure my big chickens were just hot. They are already better and no diarrhea anymore. I had also been giving them some new veggies before bed. I think that also could have gave them the runs. I think it's the heat thougj. Yesterday it was 107 degrees. They are already panting this morning and it's only 10 in the morning. All the chicks except for the cochin are now acting normal. It's really weird. They are eating and drinking. When I grab them from the brooder they run all around. I'm starting to wonder if I was imagining it. Maybe they just needed more time to adjust since they just hatched not to long ago..

It's contagious too! So if she is you might get a few more girls that want to join her.

Yes, I got it a tractor supply. It might not be but if it is, they might have a lower tolerance/resistance built up since they are younger. Are you giving them nutridrench?

Eta: meaning that, that's why it's affecting them more so the the others.

It's the new hovabator. Do I check the air cells before I put them in the incubator or after. I've not even unwrapped them yet

Also check her chest feathers. When they get serious, they pluck their chest feathers out... it allows their skin to make good contact with the eggs.
