Hands on hatching and help

For heaven's sake. I spent a good amount of money on some lavender/black silkie eggs to add to my lavenders for next year, and the seller's location was set as New Jersey, which was great, because the eggs didn't have to travel far to get to me. These are the last shipped eggs I'm going to do for the year (unless I come across sultans unrelated to the ones I have, which is doubtful) so I thought a short journey and easier eggs would be nice.

Except they shipped them and tracking says they're coming from Alabama :barnie Why say New Jersey if they're shipping from Alabama? I've messaged the seller about this and am awaiting a response. Now I'm worried that the seller was selling for a friend or something and I don't even know who the eggs are coming from. Can I even be confident the birds pictures are the actual parents? Seriously, this whole thing has me ticked off.
Ugh. Such a gamble these shipped eggs. Hopefully all goes well.

Oh man, that's terrible! My best shipped egg hatch came from New Jersey. I know she has black, you should see if she has them penned seperate, very beautiful birds and the breeder is very nice. Hollycroft Hens is the website and her FB.

Wow, that is just false advertising! I'd be ticked too. But on a better note, I had my best hatch with the seramas that came from Florida (I'm in WV). The ones from Kentucky are currently doing great, but the ones from TN had a rough trip.

And I mailed eggs to another gal in WV. They went to the southern part of the state, back north to DC!!! And back around to her. We should have driven the 4 hours instead. They scrambled 12 of 18 eggs. She got 3 to hatch.

My long winded point is I think it depends on the route they travel and the postal workers handling. Good luck!

That would definitely set off some alarms. I've had a few bad experiences on ebay. Not enough to never purchase there again but definitely some bad luck with shady sellers..

I'd be a little ticked too.

When Ruby sent me my eggs, they went south before coming north. I was afraid they srewed up the address...lol

My nephew is supposed to come up tomorrow to pick up the three extra spitz I told him he could have and I guess he's bringing me some eggs that he wants me to hatch for him, so I guess I am firing the bator back up. I don't know what they are, probably mixes, but hey, I'll be happy to hatch...lol

Still no reply from the seller :/

My best (or make that worst) 'eggs went the wrong way' story is when I bought hatching eggs from someone on BYC who was in the midwest. The eggs started towards me and then, wait for it, went to Hawaii. Yep, the eggs got a Hawaiian vacation. Surprisingly, I did actually hatch four of them after that debacle.

Omg that's crazy lol

I've never bought eggs from eBay. I have been tempted a couple times, though. All of my shipped eggs have come from me looking up breeders (through their websites or the American Bantam Association) and then contacted the breeder to ask if they would sell me eggs.

That's awesome! I left for vacation with one broody hen. She only had 1 viable egg under her. I came back from vacation and 3 more girls went broody. The 3 are all sitting together right outside of the nesting box and they stole the first ones egg! There are 2 dozen eggs that were collected while I was gone (today only got 1 because so many girls are sitting). I was thinking of setting the eggs myself while I was away but now I'm wondering if I should give them to these girls so they are not fighting over the one egg. I don't want to waste them. Twist my arm so I set some with you! :p

Omg. That is crazy!! My worst was eggs from Florida being sent to NY. They made it half way and were then sent back to Florida and then back up north to NY. They packing job was poor and they were all scrambled! They were expensive eggs too, I was so disappointed.
