Hands on hatching and help

I am a little torn. 2 eggs appear to be DIS or if not yet, on their way to be. Very faint "breathing" motion under the membrane. The 3rd and final egg seems to be an internal pip but I'm not 100% sure. It's not your typical internal pip. I can definitely see some kind of movement in the air cell and when I tap on the shell I definitely hear something in return...kinda a tapping or scratching noise in response. I think I heard peeping-faintly but with so much peeping from the brooder and incubator I can't be positive it was from the egg. Definitely not the usual, healthy peeping you hear from an internal pip. I've got a lot going on in general right now and I'm debating on what to do. I really don't want to deal with a chick with big issues right now but what if it's a perfectly healthy chick that just got a little mixed up in position. Hmmmm. Should I make a tiny hole, enough to take a peek and see what's going on??
Could be splash, you're right! Not paint, I don't think. She does not breed any paint. All the chicks are in a sleeping coma right now. I don't like to really mess with them until they are up on their feet & looking around for trouble. But once they are I can't wait to examine each chick and check out their traits. I'll get pics of the two lighter ones too.

Seeing as you have already had a great hatch, I would let nature run its course....whatever that may be.

Good luck!

I knew I should have checked here first!! LOL!! I made a little safety hole and I don't know how the chick is positioned but it does not look normal (but it was peeping). But I could see a big vein running across the the top of the membrane. Do you think this hole is small enough to leave it be without having to open and apply lube??

Do you think it definitely pipped the membrane? It looks small enough to me to leave alone, but it's really a call you will have to make :/

Yes, it pipped because it is peeping. But the shadows in the air cell look like feet! Not a beak. I'm glad you said it looks good to leave. Before bed I guess I'll open it up and apply lube. I want to move all the chicks over to the brooder but I kinda feel like it needs a buddy. I don't know if you can tell from the pic but there's all kinds of shadows in the air cell.

Wow, great pic. I'm horrible at figuring out their positioning. I can usually tell where their back is, but that's usually it.

Good luck :fl

Looks like the back below and beak above to me... may not have torn all the way through the membrane, or it may have worked it's toes out by its beak... seen that before...

I would definitely open and lube before bed... and just an fyi, they *can* peep before internally pipping... :)

Approaching 24 hours since my Serama pipped. I still hear cheeping, but not seeing any further pip action. It's still just the end of day 19 and no other pips yet, so I think I'm gonna give this one more than 24 hours before I even consider assisting.

Just getting all the kiddos in bed and I'm gonna open it up and see what's going on. Can they really peep before internally pipping??? I always thought not until they were breathing in oxygen through the air cell. Wow. See, I keep learning!

WV! I'm so sorry...I have not even asked you what's going on!! It's been a long day, sorry. How's the mama doing??
