Crowing
Hi! I'm looking for a little advice in advance. I got a not-so-great batch of a dozen shipped Sebright eggs. At Day 14, I removed all the yolkers and am left with one viable egg that has a moving embryo.
I have been incubating it upright on a cardboard ring, gently hand-turning 3 or 5 times a day. The air cell is still very wobbly.
Questions:
-Do I keep it upright for lockdown, or lay the egg on its side?
-Is the unstable air cell likely to cause a big problem?
-Is there anything else I can do to give this one precious chick a chance of success?
-Should I candle for an internal pip during lockdown, or just wait and listen for peeping?
(I have successfully assisted malpositioned / stuck chicks before, but once I waited too long to assist and lost a chick.)
Thanks for any pre-hatch advice you can give.

She sent me 20, arrived with horrible air cells, 2 were cracked, several never developed, several quitters. 8 locked down, but I was only hopeful for 2. So I guess 3 is a plus. One was a full assist, she spent the night in the ICU, but was good this morning. Hopefully she will continue. She's super tiny and adorable.
