Hands on hatching and help

We interrupt the normal programming to bring you today's creation. I've wanted to try these just to see if I could pull it off.... Troll cupcakes in a cone....

In other news, I've got one week left on the 9 silkie eggs that seem to be progressing well. I set 18 others today. 4 or 5 had gotten real cold before I got them, so I'm not counting on much from them, but we'll see. Half of them are over a week and the air cells are already bigger than I like at set, but I'll take what I can get.

Amy those are so doggone cute!!!

Silkie chicks are due to be shipped on April 3 - let's hope "The Tick", as Ken calls her, is still sitting tight and ready for babies.

Edited: "Let's HOME"? Um no.

So, the last 2 turkey eggs I had were no good like I suspected. These eggs are now the end of the low temp problems. It is Day 8 on my Sebastapol Geese. 1 egg has gorgeous veining and the other egg looks iffy at this point. These were a spur of the moment, so cheap I couldn't pass up the opportunity things so I will keep my fingers crossed.

I've got another batch going for lockdown on the 28th and they all look real good! 7 Polish Crested, 1 Lavender Orpington, and 12 Golden Cuckoo Maran.

Welsh Harlequin Ducks are still going strong too! They have another 10 days to go and all have awesome veining.

I am irritated with myself for trusting the digital readings on the incubators. I've calibrated all of my back up thermometer/hygrometers and things are smoothing out. I also ordered a circulating fan for my Little Giant.

My sole Delaware (Buddy) and the 3(started with 6) bantams were lonely so I ended up coming home with 8 Golden Laced Wyandottes!

How is everyone else's incubating/hatching coming along?

I've never had chicks shipped. I've always been scared they would all end up dead before delivery. How are they shipped? Do they go without food and water all that time?

This is my second hatch, and with the first I had one chick survive, which I had to help out, humidity was not getting high enough... anyways with this hatch I have had the humidity up to 70% and I had an early hatcher that pipped Friday night and hatched yesterday morning... now the other 4 have done nothing (today is day 21) I had to take the chick out last night, even though I was trying to not open the bator, because it was able to get out of the container I had them in and into a small container of water. Since I opened it anyways and haven't seen any egg movement with the others I decided that I would do a quick candling of the others... I can't see any movement and the air sacs look large... but there is possibly a shadow in the air sac... I'm not sure.. everyone says if you open the bator you have killed the other chicks, but I tend to think that is a bit extreme! So what do ya'all think? What should I do, I really am having a hard time not knowing if they are alive or not :/ Should I float test, or just wait?
