Hands on hatching and help

You can see in the first pic there’s still a big vein there. In the second pic it looked like most veins were gone but the duckling wasn’t struggling to get out and and I could still see some veins when I candled the pointy end so I waited it out. You don’t want ducks to come out to soon, they need to have that yolk absorbed.

That is helpful- thank you. I’m mostly worried about the spot she hurt her beak from pecking. I picked away around where the air sac was and the membrane is mostly clear I think. It’s hard to tell because there is blood from her beak. :(

Their bills heal fairly quickly and easily, so I wouldn’t worry too much about that just yet.

So sorry! :hugs Did she die in the shell? Did you take her out and see if she had absorbed the yolk yet? Was there a lot of fluid in the egg? I ask because she could have swollowed fluid inside the egg and then aspirated.
She did pass half in her shell and half out. She was pushing to get out but couldn’t do it. I didn’t take her out to see if her yolk had been absorbed- I was afraid that if it had I would blame myself for not helping more. It’s been a rough morning. Never thought I would be so sad. :(

Hey guys I have a broody who has 1 egg left that hasn't hatched. She has stopped setting now. I candled the egg and the chick looks shrink wrapped. It's still alive but no internal pip though I can see it's trying. Anything I can do for it?
There isn’t really much you can do if there is no internal pip. Some people try to locate the beak under the membrane and actually make the chick internally pip. It’s very risky because you can nip a vein but if they are going to die anyway...? I’ve never done it successfully.

Hi guys! I hope it's okay to post here.

Can anyone help me? I saw what looked like an internal pip (there was a triangular shadow in the air-sac and it was moving) so I made a little safety hole because the humidity has been wrong on the incubator (my fault) and I wanted to maximize his chances, and he was wiggling away afterward.

It's now been about 24 hours since I made the safety hole - the last time I checked on him, it was leaking and isn't rocking around so much. We're still on day 27 so little duckie isn't due yet, but should I intervene? Please let me know! This little one has had a tough ride due to my incompetence and lack of knowledge, so I really don't want to let him down now.

Hi!

When you say leaking, do you mean the safety hole is? If so, and it were my egg, I'd be opening it up further.
