I like to light a candle to chase back the Darkness.. We also burn a yule log that represents the Maiden(white candle) Mother(red candle) Crone(Black Candl. Then decorate with ribbons and holly and evergreens , after burning spread ashes in the home for protection.. Also I like to make Wassail which is a very yummy spiced wine.. If we have time I like to make sun cakes to welcome back The Light ( The God) ... We also do gifts for luck, prosperity, protection (usually we pass on something that we hold dear to us ) Then divination with any number of items( pendulum, egg roll , smoke , water , tarot... To me its all about making it thru the Darkness of winter and also Mourning for The goddess who has to stay in the underworld for 6 months of the year... I also like to do Sun crafts and Have also done a new Yule Log to sit on the hearth (for protection) for next year...

Sorry kind of a jumble of info .. and each Pagan is gonna do it a lil different but thats fine as we are only doing what is right for us..

Thank you very much.

I have been reading a little on Paganism lately. So, I found that interesting.

No prob ... As a Pagan i do not discuss Paganism unless someone asks me.. I dont beleive in forcing my beliefs on others so I am always excited when some one asks.. One thing about Paganism is dont just take one persons or books veiw.. Its about taking what feels right to you in your soul and melding it with your own beleifs .. My beliefs become more complex by the day.. If something feel Right to me I incorporate it my beleifs.. I love learning about others beliefs.. I am gonna pm you some info on a book that would help you alot.. It is based on a Gardenarian Beleif system .. But they have some amazing info in the history of paganism and where the beliefs stem from.. You have me soo excited right now..

I LOVE talking beleifs .... Not debating just sharing and growing from eachothers... Blessed Be

One thing that I appreciate about paganism is their belief in not evangelizing others. That just seems respectful to me.

I would love the book recommendation.

I saw this book in the store the other day, the Complete Idiot's Guide to Wicca and Witchcraft. Can't remember the authors off the top of my head (the book is still in my trunk) but I gave it a read and it was actually a great introduction to Wicca and Paganism. Had some humor and was written in a way that would keep even my ADD mind interested, I couldn't put it down! Definitely recommend that one to anyone getting their feet wet with learning about the path.

Ah, Christmas Eve. Time for me to dress up and go to church so I don't shatter the foundations of my single minded christian family.

I don't mind going through the ropes if it prevents a knock 'em out brawl.

Yep i decided awhile back not to fight it out with family... I do both Yule and Christmas as my family is Christian and I am Pagan ... Have you heard the song " The Pagans and the christians" By Dar Williams .. Awesome song and very true...

Not only does this keep the peace but it keeps them from worrying about you. Christians often worry that others will not be in heaven if they aren't following their faith. So the more a Christian loves you, the more they will worry about the state of your soul.

Of course, we all want to live honestly and there might come a day when you have to inform them that you don't follow their faith. But that is something that you have to decide for yourself.

Also, I think being respectful of your loved ones' belief system is a very good and loving thing to do.

The Complete Idiot's Guide to Wicca and Witchcraft was written by Denise Zimmermann and Katherine A. Gleason.
One of my favorite books on the subject is called 'When Someone You Love is Wiccan - A Guide to Witchcraft and Paganism for Concerned Friends, Nervous Parents, and Curious Co-workers' by Carl McColman. Very well written.

We have both a Christian and a Wiccan in this house and it works because we both care enough to make it work.
