This interest me because most religions have a set way that its adherents are supposed to believe. For example, a fundamentalists would say read the Bible with our interpretation of its words in mind. So, reading your words that you need to find answers within your soul is surprising.

I'm not sure what you meant by that, or if I read it right - surprising how?

I suppose you are right, in the sense of Christianity and the Bible. If someone today were to take the Bible literally they would be considered a bit backwards in our modern world. Over the years certain aspects of the Bible and the religion have been molded over time and parts of the system have been omitted, as with most religions.

As you know, if there were many written works of those old Pagan religions, most have been destroyed and lost. It seems that a large part of Paganism today is trying to recreate those aspects of it. I feel what better way to do that than with our own knowledge, emotions, experiences, and souls. Ultimately, no book or person can really tell me what I feel or want, and I think it is that way for quite a few people. The great thing about it all is that most Pagans will say to go with what works for you and what feels right within your own heart and soul.

My point was - Since there is minimal 'You can do this, this, and this, but you can't do this in this frame of mind etc. etc.' in today's Paganism, do not get caught up or assume that just because one author says something, that it does not make it so.

I guess, personally, it was harder for me to realize that you can 'make your own kind of music'.

Again, just what I believe.

I was there in September, and noticed the same thing! Awesome!

Wasn't Rome amazing? they had the Roman forum open, and I got to walk through and touch all sorts of absolutely ANCIENT stuff, I couldn't believe how lax the Italians were about it all. I couldn't help but find it funny that in the Roman Forum how beautiful, round, flowing, all the architecture was EXCEPT for the couple of christian churches built a bit later, which were just tall foreboding boxes with just like one or two small windows set amongst the smooth pagan art/buildings. I'm not saying that it's an example of Christianity or anything so do not jump on me or start a debate, it's just something interesting I noticed.

I was in Italy (but not specifically in Rome) several years ago, I agree; the ancient artwork of their country is so beautiful!

Agreed. I guess the Temple of the Vestal Virgins was particularly sacked like most other Pagan temples after Constantine converted, to make new Christian churches (especially the colloseum to make St. Paul's).

I was also especially surprised that there is absolutley no record of the Christians being slaughtered in the Colloseum. Not one. Maybe some slaves happened to be Christians, but there was no organized killing of Christians in the Colloseum. I was really wurprised at that, being taught quite otherwise growing up.

Just goes to show, you can't think you know it all just 'cuz somebody wrote it in a book.

Ahaha! How frustrating to be so important, beautiful, powerful and young, and not allowed to "enjoy" your popularity!!!

Actually, they, um, "enjoyed" theselves pretty often! The virgin title somes from them being picked at such a young age, but it was considered a major accomplishment to "be" with a VV. Even more so to have her fall in love with you and leave her service (which, occasionally they did-though I'm not sure why, as being a "regular"woman in that day and ae was not as much fun!). Fro what I've learned, the VVs had their choice of almost any man (or woman) they wanted.
