Hard Tumor, Clumped Feather Thing on Fern's Chest

Quote:
Yes, I called them for my girl (I think I'll call her Ivy) with the impacted crop and they said it was 45 dollars just to look at her and they couldn't give me an estimate for surgical mgt of an impacted crop. So my husband and I did it ourselves and so far so good. Can I just tell you how satisfying it is to see your non-eating, puffed out, sitting-alone chicken actually running around after scratch and eating normally and just being a chicken. I hope she stays well.

Fern is doing great. She ate and drank a little last night. I took her out of her kennel to take a few picture of the ~7" scar on her neck and chest. I will post them when I get home from work. She is missing quite a few feathers and will be a house chicken until the weather warms up.

After sitting in my lap for about 10 min, she was anxious to go exploring the living room. I put her back at that point.

This morning she is bright eyed and hungry. She ate some lettuce and then dove into her feed. She took her meds pretty well.

She keeps looking down at her chest. The "expression" on her face seems to be "There is something different here, but I can't quite figure out what".

The vet tech said to come back if Fern needs the collar. So far she is not bothering the scar. But she is feeling better and wants out of the pet carrier.

We are bring up the 4x4 pen from the basement for her. We are going to bring in a friend for her, too. We have a production red with a wry neck that has cleared away a patch of feathers on her chest. It is cold out, so she can come in for a while until the feather grow back.

Here are pictures of the scar.
