Hardware cloth, 1/4 or 1/2 inch for run, roof and windows and tools?

Lowes and h/d and any Ace Hdwe. carry hardware cloth, if you don't need an entire roll. All this stuff starts to mount up $$$

and everybody should have a roll of tie wire and maybe some Bubblegum

You do have to be careful that you're comparing prices on the same product. I took a quick look at this link and it seems that the welded wire they're offering is galvanized before weld. That's not as strong (or as expensive) as galvanized after weld wire. The reason is that the zinc coating (galvanization) is what deters rust, and if the wire is galvanized before welding, the welding process strips some of the zinc off the wires where they join, and these connections can start to rust.

They offer another product called "hardware cloth" but they describe it as "woven" not as welded. Woven is like chicken wire, so that wouldn't be good. It could possibly be just a mistake on their website, but I'd check with the company before ordering.

Um, you know a regular metal dog kennel..that everyone has here

Oh, sorry! You mean those mesh open sided dog kennels. I thought you meant you were using some kind of metal, closed kennel as a sort of coop.

1/4 inch is probly overkill, and as a bunch of people mentioned its usually not as strong as 1/2 inch, plus it'll be more expensive. I've never used hardware cloth for an entire run, but its probly a good idea. I always use plasti-coated 1 in. chicken wire, and yes hawks can grab doves/quail/pigeons through the wire if given the opportunity but the chickens are usually fine. I'd go with the 1/2 inch if your going to spend the money, and if its not galvanized spray paint it black with rustoleum. (the black makes the wire nearly invisible, which is an added bonus)

Thanks elmo..

Yes, what I should say to you is I've been looking for panel kennels..

Now to figure out how to connect the panel to the corner of the coops..iam trying to use one run for two coops..and one coop has in the way a little run, I figured I could purchase two door panels, but one of those door panels to the little run, add a door to the little run since it doesn't have one.

Problem is I don't want the back door to the one little coop to be enclosed in the run if it is I will have to always go into the run to get into that coop

Or I will lay a panel against the other little run and cut a square out if it again add a door to the little run

My goal is one coop may just be used for the larger breeds and the other for the bantams..not sure yet
I've enclosed a oho to for you, and iam trying to enclose the area behind these two coops.

Ayay

May run a panel then corner to corner in front of the little run, but my egg boxes are going to be exterior on that one coop facing the little run

Any ideas elmo much appreciated
