Ah, okay. Silver (or harlequin, for that matter) is not a recognized color by the APA, which is too bad because it is one of the prettiest of colors. It is a very light blue/grey (almost white), but the bill and feet are dark, like in a blue runner. If you look up "Silver Indian Runner ducks" on google you will get a few good pictures, along with pictures of the harlequin runners. It's quite confusing, really....Nope not silver harlequin just silver. Those Runners of yours are absolutely gorgeous.
yesGorgeous! Do these have the same color genetics as welsh harlequins and snowy Calls? They look like they do.
OMG, Dana!!!! I am SO GLAD to hear from you!!! I think about you all the time when I look at my ducks and wonder whatever happened to you! This whole project has been a blast, and some of the ducks I got from you were incorporated into it.Hello My Dear!
What a lovely surprise. I decided to check out the site because I am slowly getting back to thinking about the birds (long story, but life has been really rough the last 5-6 years especially). It's just been too hard mentally to be here with some of what's been going on, but I'm trying to focus on the future.
You have made BRILLIANT progress. I'm so thrilled for you and would love to hear how you ended up doing it (maybe send me a private message). How funny that someone that I'll keep nameless is buying birds descended (possibly) from his original breeding stock when he argued for years about that genotype. I've come to the conclusion he simply did not know how to tell the difference between wild type, dusky, light phase (Trout), etc.... there is no shame in that really (especially when it comes to heterozygous birds). We all learned along the way. Anyway, I hope you are well and all is good in your world. I'm dealing with lots of changes in my life right now, but keeping my eye on the prize- which is trying to stay at least somewhat healthy and buy a new, bigger farm hopefully soon.
I've thought a lot about my breeding experiences and where I want to go from here. As they say, hindsight is 20/20 and I have developed even more insights on the Runners, among other things, especially why so many off-color ducklings can pop up from supposedly pure in genotype breeding stock. Keep in touch! It's great to see you posting here totally by chance.

(Now if we can get Rollyard back on board then we can get some good genetics discussions going again!)OMG, Dana!!!! I am SO GLAD to hear from you!!! "The Guy" actually is getting some for a friend of his, not for himself. I will send you a PM soon and catch you up...
I haven't been on BYC for quite a while. Must have been fate that you checked in! You made my day!
