Harness Goats

I would go for the harness goat! I know I sure do love it! You could always train him to do both as well.

Well my one doe is now very stubborn. She will hardly move at all when hooked to the cart. Any ideas to get her to move? She just stands there or goes basically any direction other than the one I tell her.

My two does are still rather small. I found out last summer that their sire was a full Boer so that really does not explain the size. They are both between 90 and 100 lbs and stand about 24 inches or so at the withers. They get about 3/4 of a cup of grain per day and free choice of hay.

They went to the vet yesterday and got their yearly shots. He seemed pleased with them.

Hope all of you harness goat people are enjoying your summers. It has been pretty warm here lately. Well, I am headed out to work with and feed the goats and other animals.

Talk to you later!

I have been leash training, and hoof trimming, getting my ladies ready to learn to pull a cart.
The work harness and halter arrived on Friday, I haven't tried it on them yet. I only ordered one, as a pattern, I hope to make my own. Now to invent a cart!

I transported two milking goats for a lady, they were bigger than great danes - HUGE!!
I have a pair or mini/pony harnesses for the two ponies I got, my friend has a pair of Olberlhasi wethers who need jobs!!
AND we have a mini/pony cart.. hehehehehe.. time to teach these boys how to be harness goats..

I love the pics.. but on some of the goats, isn't the chest strap/breast collar too low?? You really should have it properly fitted to the goat so it will have a good
experience when you hitch it up. If you don't it can make the goat NOT want to do the job you want it to.

Awesome username! You have some really sweet looking goats there, and I love that you trained them separately before putting them together. Some seem to miss that step and get frustrated with carting. I really want to try driving goats, and also dogs. Dog carting sounds like a blast, and like the dogs love it. It'll be a while though, but especially a while before the goats. XD
