Harris Farms Nurture Right 360 Incubator is AMAZING!

ok now I have no clue what is going on with her. She didn't leave the box at dusk to go roost last night but came out this morning. figured she was out to eat. She was out foraging (in the run as they only free range if I am out there with them) when I bought their food out and the rest came running but she didn't. She stayed digging around at the ground. I watched on the camera for a while and she didn't go over to the food at all just kept digging at the ground and eating what she found there. I had to bring my daughter to school so when I got back I brought out some bug larvae mix and some 6 grain scratch and spread that around and she at that but I haven't seen her over to the reg food at all and she was still out and stayed out. She got off a bit past 6am and it is now almost 8am and she is still off.......

but why sit about half of yesterday, and all night and not roost? Why isn't she eating the regular food? She seems to be acting normal other than that. Her comb is nice and pink, she laid yesterday, she is walking normal.........

And sorry way off topic for this thread.

In the ten mins since my last post another one pipped. Got some pics. I love how much visual access the NR360 offers. A feature that hasn't had a chance to shine until now.

I would chalk it up to weird spring hormones. She seems to be displaying some signs of broodiness. Dipping her claws so to speak. I very much doubt anything is wrong with her. You seem very attentive and have the camera so just keep an eye on her but mostly just observe and let her do her thing. The questions of, "is she really broody?", and all that, can really only be answered by her in time.

wow look at all those babies ready to pop on out! pretty soon it is going to be filled with fluffy balls and not eggs. :)
it is a weird thing, looking forward to it for so long, and then like a few hours and it is done! And ya it blows my mind every time. 3 weeks ago those eggs were breakfast. Heat and time, the only ingredients, and "poof!" the freakin miracle of life in front of your eyes lol

It is amazing how quick! I had to laugh at 3 weeks ago those eggs were breakfast though. LOL But it is so true!

ok. ya not really worried if she is broody or not. I figure she will end up showing me sooner or later. More worried something is wrong or wondering if this is normal. I try to be attentive and notice anything "off". I think sometimes the camera helps others it hurts since I notice so much more and then worry. LOL But I do have one that hasn't laid since March 25 but I watch her and she is behaving normal so that helps think with out the camera I would worry more about her wondering if she is behaving normal all the time etc.

oh and remember how I said she went back into the box that wasn't her fav but was of 2-3 other girls. Well yup the one I said I thought would be ok with it is in there laying right now and the one I said would throw a fit...... well yup she has been in and out of the coop for the past 15 min and is SCREAMING because the other one is in that nest box. I can hear her from in the house she is screaming so much! LOL She has gotten better since she used to do this if anyone was in ANY of the boxes when she had to lay because she didn't want anyone in there. haahaa!

Yeah, it can be hard sometimes, for me anyway, to find that perfect balance between caring for/worrying about my animals. I grew up in a city, and now I have between 50-100 animals in my care at any given time and for a while it was literally keeping me up at night because I really care about their quality of life. The strategy I try to implement is to be ALWAYS observing, RARELY intervening. My thoughts are if i observe behaviors/patterns constantly I can set my animal systems up in a way that requires very little from me on the day to day for the animals to flourish.

Anyway sorry about the tangent. Animal keeping has been the most rewarding journey of my life!
