Harris Farms Nurture Right 360 Incubator is AMAZING!

I rarely wait longer than 8 hours anymore but it's 8-24 hours of rest for shipped eggs for me.
That's what I do too. I pick them up in the morning. The eggs spend the day on the counter getting to temp and resting a bit. Then set them that evening. I haven't found any significant difference from when I used to wait the full 24 hours.

I posted before about adding two extra silkie eggs to the NR360. So I set 24 eggs total. The silkie eggs had to be turned by hand and they didn’t prevent the other eggs from turning. When I took some eggs out around day 5 because of no development then I moved the silkies into an open spot where they could turn automatically. Both silkie eggs hatched! So, I’ll be experimenting a little further on this next hatch. I have placed 28 eggs in the NR260 - 22 regular sized chicken eggs and 6 small eggs! My reasoning - 16 are shipped eggs and will likely either not all develop or might quit. When I candle at day 6 or 7 then I’ll move the bad ones out and fill their spots with the silkie/small eggs. I turn these by handle 3-4 times a day. In the very unlikeliest they all develop - I’m getting a second NR360 for my birthday 😂 this could be come a real problem. I’ll let you know how this one turns out.

lol, Welcome to the addiction and that's a neat trick you figured out!

I'll take a peek. Right now I'm planning on filling my incubators with my backyard mixes if I have some fertilized ones (I'll know in a few days if he was doing anything, lol). Long story, but I rehomed my cockerel today and I'm really hoping he was old enough to be active with the ladies.

I took these eggs out of the fridge so it's kind of a double experiment to see how the refrigerated egg will do AND see if my roo was active at all. I'm going to start collecting their eggs and storing them for hatch in the hopes that they're actually fertilized. I didn't want to hatch any winter babies because I prefer to brood outside but I just NEED to have some chicks from the hen in my avatar! :fl

To complicate things even more, the friend that took the rooster for me asked me to take some eggs that her broody hen was sitting on (Seramas that I would guess are at least on day 15). I candled them and only one looks viable so now I double crossing my fingers that my backyard eggs are fertilized or I'm going to have a little pocket baby for a few weeks. lol!

The one viable Serama egg hatched and I have a precious little Serama baby now. I went to the local feed store to get her a little friend because it doesn't look like my young roo was fertilizing eggs yet, oh well. I find it hilarious that I bought a chick when I hatch over 100 chicks every year. :gig

While I was in the feed store I saw a little chick they had separated with splay leg so I explained to the lady how to fix it...she gave me puppy dog eyes and asked me to take it. lol, So now I have 3 chicks in the brooder and I swore I wasn't going to raise winter babies this year. :lau
