Ugh! It’s pipped on the wrong end :(

I didn’t actually look at it last night I could just hear it peeping so assumed it had internally pipped. Obviously not! Hindsight is wonderful thing!

It’s still peeping away so we will see how it goes. Going to take longer than I thought. I hate making that decision on helping them out & when to do it!

Thanks Barbara. I’m not feeling very optimistic, it looks like a spot of blood on the pip hole. Always a risk of going through a vein when they try and get out of the wrong end.! Had it before with a chick that bled out after pipping through a vein. For now it’s still alive, I just hope it’s not sat there slowing bleeding to death :fl

Kim, we are all praying this baby gets out of its egg alive! Barbara is right, if anyone can do it, its you. :)

Keep us posted Kim!

Thank you Leyla, I hope so :fl

Coming up for 24 hours since I heard the first peep so that’s about it’s time for what would have been it’s internal pip. I’m apprehensive about helping it out as some hatch 24 hours after external pip but others hang on as much as 72 hours. What will this be? I just don’t know and don’t want to jump in too early or too late :barnie

Peeper has finally arrived! :ya

I checked and it looked to be trying to zip and getting nowhere so I thought I would check if it was ready. Having removed a little shell there was no blood and it was peeping quite a lot. Carried on and it sure was ready! All yolk & blood absorbed. Still early days but it’s now resting in the incubator.

Such a relief once it was it was out and even better this morning when it was still ok. Goodness I was sweating last night getting it out!
Just got it moved to the brooder with a teddy for company. Seems quite happy but still finding its feet. Had a drink & something to eat so for now all is good :bow
