Unfortunately Barbara it’s me who’s doing the plodding! Bedlam here with one thing and another so not been on board Harry this week. Becky is away in Jamaica on holiday for a couple of weeks so I’ve been a busy bee keeping the nags and kids in check! They were meant to be doing Bran for Becky whilst she is away but they have barely been doing their own ponies so I’ve been doing him. They were left specific printed out instructions on what to do etc and on what day but typical teenager’s

Yeah I’m so pleased they are getting on well together. Not a conscious decision to get a female but fortuitous. She was the last in the litter and he was ready for her to go so it was a stroke of luck really. We got to know about her through a friend of a friend.

Just been and got her a little collar so she can start on the lead in the garden and she is doing her best to get it off. She is running along and trying to scratch it off at the same time!

Hi Kim

We have it now but it arrived later in the day and in fact there were some pleasant sunny spells earlier. Keeps lashing it down every now and then at the moment and set to get more persistent as the evening progresses.
Mud, mud, glorious mud....! Really can't complain though as we have had such a run of good weather for months! My bees have been flying as strongly as mid summer up until yesterday and the sound of them ripening ivy honey on an evening has been remarkably loud. Shame it is not a pleasant flavour or texture but it will see the bees through the winter even if we get a bad one.
How are Tally and Keeper? Still in love I hope.
Lauren is riding in her first university competition this Friday, so I may go along to watch as it is reasonably local. A "friendly" against Newcastle! She has been getting a lot of practice in on Ian's horses this past couple of weeks. Poor Archie was not impressed at having to do dressage in the school and he was a bit awkward but as I said to her, he will (hopefully) make the horses on Friday seem easier. The funny thing was that he just wanted to be out of there until Ian put a jump up and then his whole attitude changed and he was focussed and keen, so long as he was allowed to play and not have to do all that poncy stuff!

I bet it’s moved further north now so you are likely to have what we have already had. No sun here at all today! Had more than I thought over night too, was a tad muddy this morning when I got to the farm. But you are right, can’t complain with what we have had.

Good luck to Lauren for Friday :fl Even though it’s a friendly I’m sure she would really like to get a good score. Archie sounds like mine kind of horse with not wanting to do the poncy stuff! I have to say I too find it utterly boring!
It’s good she has been able to get some practice in on Ian’s beastie’s. Win win all round there I’d say!
Are the university one’s like riding school/college horse’s? Robots programmed to go round & round?

Yes Tally & Keeper are still very much in love :love She is super noisy compared to Keeper in the cage & run outside though. She needs to get used to going in them so we have started over the last couple of days putting her in for short periods. She seriously yaps, barks, howls and some sound like a screaming noise. Keeper was never like that and took to both very easy. It’s hard to ignore those “rescue me” howls! She is even starting to win old Mac round which I never thought would happen. Depending on his mood she is permitted to get on his bed with him!

Oh I have been so very very naughty  I just couldn’t help myself from clicking buy and got Harry another rug. It’s got neoprene pads around the withers to reduce pressure and you get liners for it at different weights that attach inside to make it heavier if needed. The snazzy orange also swung it for me! I really need to get on with trying to sell some of his others! And get a grip of my problem!

You bad girl!!! What happened to his lovely chicken rug that you got last year? You really need some therapy for that addiction! Having said that, I "clicked" today too and bought 3 new pairs of jodhs but only because I only have a couple of pairs left that I can fit into that are not holed and they were only £13.99 a pair. Hoping they are as good as the last cheap ones I bought. I could only get them in brown or two tone or beige and there was no way I wanted the latter two options. Green would be my preferred colour but not so easy to get.

I would like to say Harry looks smart in his new rug but since the photographer cut his head off (your addiction must be bad when you focus so much on the rug and miss such a handsome face!!), it could be any horse standing there modelling it! I see it is a Premier Equine. I have several of their rugs.... I love the nylon lining as it just floats on them instead of dragging on their fur like poly cotton and it really polishes their coats to a shine. The down side is that the lining does not stay in place when you get them washed and it goes all lumpy in some places and thin in others. Of course they may have rectified that problem since I bought mine. Is that a detachable neck on it? Will be interested to hear how effective that is as I haven't had much success with them and prefer a full combo.

I know I’m terrible! Got chicken rug in 2016 so come Jan it will be 3 years old. So a good excuse for a new one? Still got it, in fact he had that on last week. Also have a purple medium one of the same style & make so that could go really. If I can bare to part with it!

Good buy there Barbara on the Jods! Fingers crossed they are comfy & last well. My comfiest best cheapest pair ever came from Aldi on one of their special buy lines. Only got the one pair but wish I’d got 10 as I wore them until they fell apart. I did spot a lovely pair of pink denim horseware Ireland breeches on sports direct the other day. Reduced to £20 so were a bargain. I clicked on to see what sizes were left but only size 8 was available :( No way could I even attempt to get them on! Well maybe half a leg would fit!

Not the photographer’s fault with no head  He was far too busy eating haylage to have his pic taken! I’d already been an inconvenience to his afternoon snack with fitting the rug and insisting on him having a good groom first. I literally had to scrape & chip the mud of his head! I had to get the hair brush on it just to loosen it to make a start! The one I did get of his head was begrudgingly!

Yes it’s a detachable neck. Not sure if things have changed as this is my first but it say the rug goes higher up the neck & the neck cover is longer. So there is not so much space underneath. They overlap better I think? Will let you know how I go with it. I do hope the liners wash ok as that was one of my main points for it. Maybe things are different as there are a couple at yard who have them and they didn’t say anything. We shall see :pop

That's better, even if he isn't interested in posing! Can't blame him. I would rather eat as have my photo taken too!
Can't believe it is nearly 3 years since you got that chicken rug!! Surely it can't be more than two? Where does the time go?

Definitely coming up 3 years :old Pics are date stamped, good job too because my heads a shed!

I’m sure time is going faster the older I get! When your a kid it seems to take forever for everything but now it’s just wizzes past!

What about his poor feet? Don't his hooves get cold? I think you must get him some booties. And his ears are sticking out in the cold. He needs a hat too. Or I guess you could put a couple of Charlie's socks on Harry's ears! :D
