Has anyone ever had new pullets start laying in the middle of winter??

I have three July hatched banty pullets that have started laying this month

. I also have a June hatched cross breed that started two days ago.

I have 19 pullets, all born early June. They're BO's, BR's, EE's, SS, GLW, Welsummers and one Australorp. The EE's started laying first about three weeks ago, I'm getting anywhere from 8-12 eggs a day right now.

That defently gives me some hope of some fresh eggs soon.... last year all my may pullets didn't start laying until late Febuary. I know lack of light plays a lot into it, since the sun comes up about 7am, and sets about 5pm currently. Not to mention our lovely 2 degree above zero tempatures, we had the past couple of nights.

In that supercold weather, they may need more energy to keep growing and lay and keep warm all at the same time. What are you feeding them? Try upping their protein intake with added BOSS.
