Has anyone had Lasik? Update: DONE!!!!

I want to get this done too! But i worry, because it seems that my eyes are getting worse FAST!
Soo... if i get this done..will i need to do it again in the future? And i wont need glasses anymore after surgery, right??

Is that like laser eye surgy (sp?) ?? my nanny had laser things done it was good for most times she likes it. Only companins once and a while. I had droped 4 point in one and 5 in the other within a year. I have droped another 3-4 i would say this year. I have BAD visson

I know many people who had Lasik done and are totally happy with their decision. I wish I could myself, but astigmatism is too bad, which means I'd have to have the PKR surgery and that is more invasive, higher chance of infection and much longer healing time. You are lucky you can do it. Good luck!

Don't worry!! I had it done about eight years ago and I LOVED it!! I had no discomfort other than some dry eyes (just use lots of drops!!). Just wear the funny goggles at night so you don't rub your eyes. I love that I can see without glasses in the rain!! It is so worth it! Don't put it off!!

Those of you who think your astigmatism is too bad, you need to find the right surgeon. Alot of surgeons told me I was beyond help, but I kept looking. I found the guy and had it done. If I hadn't I would probably be legally blind right now. That is how bad my vision was. It was corrected to 20/25 and 20/35, before it was 20/850 and 20/950.

It CAN be done.

Thanks everyone for the information. I am just very nervous about this whole thing. The dr and the clinic made me feel very comfortable when I was there for the pre-exam and answered every question that I had and some I didn’t think of. Now I am just thinking of other things and wanted advice from people that have had the procedure done.

I have both a distance correction of -3.5 and -3 and a fairly high astigmatism but my vision isn’t as bad as some of you have mentioned. I was really worried they wouldn’t even be able to do mine because I was never able to wear contacts because my eyes are to dry but they did a LOT of tests and assured me everything should be fine. I just might have to use more eye drops after surgery.

I am having mine done in St. Louis Park MN at the Whiting Clinic and it is going to cost me just under $2,500 for both eyes.

I had mine done in '96. Took less than 5 minutes for the whole procedure. I didn't feel a thing and the colored light show was cool.

I don't remember feeling anything afterwards, just wore the plastic goggles at night. I had the surgery on a Thursday and was back at work by Monday. It's pretty awesome. Before, anything further than 4 inches from my face was a solid blur. The coolest thing afterwards was being able to see the clock in my room at night!

Do it. You won't regret it.

If you get it done, its done. You wont have any more surgery until you get cataracts LOL!

You will need reading glasses as you get older, roughly around 40's. I can see the computer screen and TV from the distance just fine but to read a paper, I have to have my glasses or set the paper back a bit further. With my cross stitching, I HAVE to have glasses. Before I didnt need any.

I had it done in 2005... lousy eyesight with fairly high astigmatism... I have now been 20/15 in both eyes ever since. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I love being able to see without glasses, contacts, etc.

Good luck...

I had ASA done - very similar. Haven't regretted it once since I had the procedure done more than two years ago. I think with Lasik you can see better right from the get-go. With ASA it took a little over a week before I could see better. I was very paranoid (still am) about anything to do with my eyes - so I was scared crapless. But I'm so glad that I bit the bullet...you will wonder why you waited so long to have it done once its overwith.
Be brave!
