Has anyone seen my chicks? USPS Rant...UPDATE in pg2

ok now I'm curious to know if these chicks ever made it to their destination.

I'd read some where else on a forum some woman who had claimed she's "rescued a whole box of chicks in a box that was being shipped through the mail! She was flabber gassed that they'd been shipped with no water or food......... She had them and was "adopting them out".

People don't always know what they're talking about when they think they do & they just "act" you know? In reality her "rescue" was a theft.... and I thought such a thing with the post office is a federal thing no? I can't remember where I read this but it was on a forum some where.

Anyway when I read your post that your whole shipment has just poofed I thought "hmmm wonder if ANOTHER has "found a box of chicks & rescued them"?

Hey I read the same posting you did, about some lady getting a big box of chicks by mistake and selling them off. She claimed she was rescueing them. I was thinking "oh please your rescueing them? In fact you just stole someone's chick order and profiting off stolen goods. If that was my order I would have been furious. Sorry side tracked, lol.

I hope you get your chicks.

I received a small order of five chicks from My Pet Chicken the day after it was shipped. I'm in southern California. I had called the local post office that handles boxes to alert them of the shipment; this is different than the nearest post office where I purchase stamps, mail boxes, etc.
Are you sure the post office you visited is the one that will receive the chicks?
The manager, to whom I had spoken the day before, called me promptly after they received the package. I was down there in ten minutes to pick them up. The package was peeping, sitting on a worker's desk.

I had no problems whatsoever.

Hope you get the chicks quickly. Please let us know!

They have been found and are now Home! I am not sure what happened, but somone dropped the ball somewhere. They were sent by Meyer as an express pkg. So the PO screwed up. I am going to let the hatchery know, but I doubt anything will get changed.
Oh- I got one extra for a total of 9. That was nice because we had to put down a 2 week old chick this week because of twisted beak. They are very active and went through a dish of food in about 15 minutes! One of them really likes to "sunbathe" Sticks it neck out under the lamp and just dozes. It's too funny.
Here they are. 1 Dominique, 3 LB Leghorns, 5 RIR

Ohhh! They're so cute! So how long did it take them to get there? If it took two days, check with Meyer b/c sometimes the P.O will only gurantee 2 day delivery on Express. It depends on the location. I know here, they'll only gurantee 2 day delivery to most places, but in larger hubs (like if I drove to Asheville 35 minutes away and shipped from the main hub), it would go one.

OH MY! about the "post office rescuer".
Asher, I just curious, does the USPS include info about live chicks in training for all employees? Because the people at my post office acted like they had never heard of such a thing. I had to repeat myself so many times it got kind of funny. The clerks just looked at me like they didn't really believe me.

I'll have to check on the express guarantee. Meyer did tell me when I ordered to expect them the next morning. I just feel relieved now. And thanks for your help everyone!

Nope. We discussed it in my class because I brought it up.

I also talked to them about handling shipping eggs and my instructor was amazed people ship eggs in the mail.

Well no wonder they looked at me that way. I can't believe that live animals aren't covered as pertinent info. No wonder that woman previously mentioned thought she was rescuing the chicks. I am just dumbfounded.

Congrats Javamama!!!!
