Hatch-Along - Eggs set in November, due December, anyone?

I just prevented a really gross thing from happening, I was making cookies, and I usually crack the egg open right into the mixer, but something told me not to this time. Cracked the egg into a bowl, and turns out theres a little embryo inside

. I'm so glad I didn't mix it into the cookie batter.. I got some pics tho!

The big splotchy thing is just part of the bowl lol.

Can anyone tell me if this IS a embryo?
I could see eyes I think..

chicknlove, it looks like the one I had that died, but it's a different size. Maybe yours died on day 5?
Yeah, I have no idea. I think it's the same egg I thought had a blood ring and then I candled it again and I thought I saw movement and kept it. I just can't believe how fast they can develop! I tried to get a good picture to show what it looked like. oh well. I wonder why it didn't make it

3Dchicken, yeah it was from our chickens.. I have no idea how tho lol, I collect the eggs every morning, and it usually freezes at night, and our hens never set... Really weird!

Anyone know what day it could have been on??

Gabrielle1976 adorable Serama chickies I have a heated blanket that has similar design to yours, I got mine from Costco lol..Divinity, Sugarcookie are cute names, I like Butterscotch too.

Keric they are still better than hatchery quality, nice beards- I've always wanted a paint silkie. I have a white pair that are 7 months old but the hen hasn't laid yet must be because of the weather although my Dominique has been laying daily.

The only roosters I have are the Silkie and a Serama with feathered legs so I doubt the eggs Dominique eggs are fertile (my only hen that is laying *I think*) but have heard of standard/bantam crosses so once my incubator stabilizes we'll see! I am also going to put Muscovy eggs in there and sadly my crested duck passed away last week but before she did left one egg, it would be a mule duck and low chance of hatching but I'll be happy if it does.

Good luck to everyone hatching!

It could be an embryo, but I would think that there would be some blood veins unless it died early on and the veins disappeared? I have sometimes seen what is known as blood, or meat spots sounds gross but I think this happens when a tiny part of the hen's oviduct goes into the egg.

That's what i was wondering about....I saw no veins at all. I'm not sure how long this egg has been in the fridge, probably not longer than a week. So its possible its not a embryo!

its been a crazy setting of november!!! this are the end results of my Dec 8th hatch

on nov 17 i started with 75 eggs, a week later i candled and went down to 66 (9 were unfertiled), candled again on day 14 and went down to 60 and made it to lockdown....here is the crazy part....out of the 60 eggs only 5 hatched......out of the 5, i had to put down 2 (bad legs) so i ended up with 3....two black astros and one white naked neck. i was a little concerned during lockdown cause i talked to my neighbor, who also hatches, and told me that he had a really bad hatching rate (being that he always hatches a good 80 to 90 percent) this time around out of 100 quail eggs he only got 5 and i really dont remember of his chicken eggs but it was also really low (i think 12 out of 60) anyway he said it was because of the lunar eclipse on the 28 of nov.....got a little concerned and sure enough i ended up with 3 out of 60 to lockdown. after this i decided to candle my 30 eggs i had laid on the 25th of nov for a egg sexing project i had started and again, i got bad news ....out of the 30 production red eggs i had for this project all of them were dead except for 6 which still showed life, so the project was terminated. i was so upset and decided to check my DOOMSDAY CHICKS which i set on the 30th. expecting the worst i came to find out that all 60 eggs showed life and are develping allright. so now i also beleive as my neighbor, that the eclipse ruined my hatching! since eggs that were set before the 28th failed and eggs set after the 28th are doing ok.....for this reason im calling off any egg settings until january....after the alignment of the planets and the holidays are over.......

p.s. i also forgot mentioning that maybe that was the reason i lost 2 of my old english bantams out of the 3 that were due a couple of days ago.
