for your little Chickie Then you can tell family and friends don't eat the yellow snow.

Candyman you are so ingenuous what a great idea, and I love your smileys too, Lock down, awesome your almost there. Do your kids feel neglected yet?

Snowpetals I am hatching (my first using an incubator) RIR father and Buff Orph mom eggs I have 9 and am in Day 5

Forgot to tell you guys, you know your addicted to chickens when: looking at a possible place to buy and it has 2 out buildings and you give the small one to your husband and the big one to your chickens to be remodeled into a really nice house.

Tomorrow my 18 day ends and lockdown begins. I'm in the process of making a hatching tray... I was thinking of hatching in cartons but now I am making one myself.
Ok done

here are the pics, tell me what you think of it?
I took a styrofoam sheet, marked it, made 21 spots for my eggs, and made spaces using a heated teaspoon

b.t.w. I candled today on the end of day 17 and I do not see a lot of difference in air cell size since day 14. Is that something to be worried about? Maybe I shouldn't go into lockdown or I might risk drowning them with lots of humidity??

My whole incubator is made of a sytrofoam cooler, and they haven't died yet, so I wouldn't worry too much... My eggs are a mix between white leghorn and rhode island reds, but not the way to make a red sex link, (where the father is the rhode island red, and the mother is the white leghorn) but the other way around. The father is a white leghorn, and the mothers are rhode island reds. I looked up the chicken genetics, and I now know that they will be all yellow fuzzy peepers when they hatch, regardless of sex. I think they will be white with a hint of brown/red when they get their feathers. Anyways....

Katsdar, I think you should candle them! (or at least a couple :3) Just be quick to put them back into the incubator, so they don't get cold! Also, take pictures or tell us if they are alive!!! I am crossing my fingers for ya! (I also think you should wait until day 7- 10 to candle them again, so they aren't affected by the heat loss :D)

Lapaysannefarm, Thanks, and it's okay that it died. I still have around eight more still kickin', so it's all good.

It's day 15 for me, and I'm going into lockdown on Wednesday!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited, and I hope I don't transfer my head cold to my eggs.

Candyman I had that problem yesterday too remember? Lol. Like I said I was surprised the air cells look significantly larger today on the 18th day. Candle again tomorrow let me know if it looks different to you also!

I'm a worrier too... I'm like an expecting mother... Maybe I should just sit in front of the bator for the next 3-4 days without moving. The boyfriend says I already do that anyway... :D

Here's the little guy who didn't make it.... I saw a dark mass that stopped growing around day 8 i think and when i candled it today (would be day 13) it just floated around.
