Not much to report here, There is one egg I'm pretty sure died but am still just letting it hang out in the corner of the bater.. Maybe I'll crack it open this afternoon I'll try and get some pics if theres anything to see. I'll candle it once more first. On day 13 now. I candled a couple last night and they are doing good, but I think I'm going to pretty much leave them alone until day 18. **Yawn** the home streach it long and boring. Anyone have some babies due today?? I need more pics.. Gabriella??

I am using the "hova-bater" with the fan. I set 18 eggs and they are from my 2 girls and one rooster that I got this past spring. I plan to sell the chicks and get a bit of money to buy better, fluffier silkies...

Compared to the other ones on this site they are regular chickens! I want the ones with a crest so big you can't tell if it's a chicken or just a fluff ball! I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with these guys though. No idea. I might keep them, but I don't want them breeding. Luckily I know which eggs came from who so hopefully I can keep doing that when I get new ones...

I will definitely be posting baby pictures when they hatch. I can't wait. I put the in the incubater last night and this morning I was listening for pips!!! It'll be a looooong 21 days!

I want me some silkies! I'm looking to buy some chicks soon

Hope your hatch goes well! 18 eggs from 2 girls they must be good layers. How long did you have to collect them?

They lay like everyday! It's been about a month I think. I hope it all goes well. If it doesn't oh well. I didn't plan on hatching them at first so they were in the fridge... the last 4 are fresh though.
I came on this site and saw fluffy silkies better than mine and I got jealous. Tee hee!

Don't say anything to me about fridge eggs don't hatch!!! I will find out myself!!!! LOL!!! Most that will happen I lose eggs. Whatevs.

I'll candle them in 5 days. If I see something great. If not I'll put them back in the fridge. JK!!! Yuck.

I'm doing a little experiment of my own... clean washed eggs vs. dirty unwashed eggs.. The farmer I got them from sold me a doz fertile eggs laid the very day I bought them. for 6 dollars. Since it was my first time buying fertile eggs from him he gave me a doz "for breakfast" he said. I said oh are they fertile?? and he says oh no you don't want to incubate those, they have been cleaned.. well I stuck them in the bator too and so far so good. I think I had to toss more of the "fertile hatching eggs" I've read pleanty of posters who do it both ways. I just want to see for myself

Besides it cheaper to buy the "breakfast eggs" lol.

It's not so much the eggs being in the fridge as it is not turning them. You just might be surprised though, I've read of people talking about hatching off store bought eggs from Trader Joe's with some success. Good luck on the hatch!
