Hatch-Along - Eggs set in November, due December, anyone?

I candled early (day 5) and I saw the chick doing the happy dance, I was surprised because they say candle at day 10 but I just wanted to see if I could see anything and yep he's in there and so I candled another egg and saw a good net work of veins, will candle the other 18 at day 10. We are going to have babies soon I'm excited.

I'm so upset something got my Bannie hen today, she is gone there was a ruckus and we went outside and she was no where to be found, I think a hawk or something carried her off, now Henry is without his mate and I will need to find him a new one. Bannies don't mate for life do they? I heard they did, but I really don't know.

and Kats, GO GO GO!!!!1

I am kinda away from the pc and busy so cannot come so often... but I will be checking in again, take care ya'all

A few days ago I took Bella to the vet, and they did surgery on her umbilical cord/yolk sac, and removed it, and now she is home with the other chicks and I have to force feed her food and medication every so often. It is very scary because I can so easily put the tube down the wrong hole. The other chicks need to teach her to eat and fast too! I can't feed her through a tube the rest of her life! She only weighs a third of what the others weigh. Poor chickie. The vet bill was also quite expensive... The things we do for chickens! XD

wow, take a pic, what did they do, remove it and stitch it closed? anyone else would have culled the chick, Bella will have a good home with you, did the vet say if there will be any lasting effects? Is she eating on her own yet?
