Did you let them hatch inside the carton? I have never heard of that before. I thought you had to lay them on their side.
I've never incubated in cartons before except for quail & I take them out & lay them down at lockdown, but I'm trying it with this batch. We'll see how it goesI've seen a lot of people hatch in cartons. I think the benefit is that the hatching chicks can't kick the remaining eggs all over the bator. And the chicks will definitely do that. Usually with 15 minutes of hatching my first chick, all the other eggs have been rolled to the edges. But I don't like to hatch mine in cartons because I like seeing the eggs rock back and forth after they've internally pipped.
I saw where another member used dividers from a Christmas ornament box to make little cubicles for each hatching egg. That way they could move around, but the chicks didn't kick them.

Just checked my incubator before heading to bed and realized that the sensor for my thermometer/hygrometer had fallen down to the screen floor. It was reading 99 on the floor. I moved the sensor so it was resting on top of the turner. Itwas reading 102 there! Yikes! I have no clue how hot it is running at the top of the eggs. I hope Walmart gets some thermometers in soon so I can get more accurate average temperatures. I am aiming for 102 at the top of the egg. I hope I haven't fried them.
suro king 20, 24 eggs it can take it costs £130Yay! What type of incubator do you have?
