Hatch-Along - Setting eggs this weekend (Jan5/6) WHOS WITH ME!

I have eggs!!! Okay, so here are the ones that I've decided to put into the incubator. Black Marans, White Marans, Americauna and Blue Laced Red Wyandottes. I can't wait to see what comes out of these guys. I guess I'll put them in the incubator tomorrow morning.

YAY!!!!! Very nice colors.

My eggs are not being delivered now until Monday...I don't know if they are going to be any good...

I would love to buy I have been forbidden to buy any more hatching eggs.

Shhhhh! What they don't know won't kill them.

They will get over it once they see all the adorable babies.

We could also swap for some once the weather warms up. You have some breeds I'd love to have as well. If you swap you didn't buy them, you just traded eggs you already had for ones you didn't.

That sounds like a great plan in a few weeks ;)

Mine are in. When I get home from work I'll post a picture. There is many more eggs than I had originally planned. Some are older and probably won't hatch. A few are only minutes old. (te he he). Numbering is a great idea. Thanks.

Yeah I number them all and then have a note book with all the numbers so I can keep track and know which ones look infertile or iffy and which has great veinings etc. It helps to know if the eggs are staying on track each time you candle. I just set mine. I kind wished I waited 24 more hours but I did let them rest for 24 so they should be fine. I also decided to put them in the turner but leave the turner off for the first 5-7 days. I hope it works.

I number when I start collecting for a personal hatch. That way I know which eggs are oldest. I've been trying to set eggs once per week so I have everything on a "hatch schedule" where all I have to do is move the eggs to lockdown in the bator I am using for hatching & plop the next set into the space left in the 1st bator. When I set the 36+ on Monday I will have to fire up a 3rd bator because #1 is currently pretty close to capacity & there isn't room for that many eggs. I have 4 bators, so not a big deal there. What I really need is a cabinet bator. I have an old cupboard downstairs I was considering trying to transform but no money for parts at the moment.
