I've just set mine. I've had the bator running for the past few days on a steady 99.5 temp. I was told after the eggs go in not to fiddle with the fluctuating temp for the next 24 hrs and to let stabilize again.

@kunjun I know the feeling!! We are putting our eggs in thee bator tonight and will probably checking it like crazy! The next 21 days need to go fast!
I purchased my eggs online and they were sent out on the second. My estimated arrival date was on the fourth. Today is Saturday the fifth and i haven't received my eggs yet. I know my eggs wont come tomorrow because it is Sunday. That is 5 days of shipping! I am pretty much counting these eggs as a waist of time.
Do you think it was the shipping that caused so many eggs to not make it to lockdown or the incubator? I hope the rest hatch for you![]()
Well, I'm thinking it's the shipping. I did have a hovabator go bad on me and the company replaced it right away. Then they suggested that I put in a second thermometer and a non-shipped egg in along with the mail ordered ones as a control. If my hen's egg hatches with no problems, chances are it's the shipping that is messing up the eggs. It just kills me that out of 26 mail ordered eggs only 8 made it this far. Hopefully, tonight when I get home I'll have more new babies. Either way I'm still going to set some of my hens eggs this weekend. Hatching eggs is so addicting!

I cant see the air cells But those pics are very good quality. Im going to be looking forward to seeing all you candling pics over the next 3 weeks. They will probably turn out awesome.I'm new to the thread, but I will be setting some in the incubator tomorrow as well!!
I am setting 5 from an eBay purchase of blue copper, blue, and black copper Marans (eggs 1-5 below). I also have 2 of my own (6-7)
I use a Brinsea Mini Advance w/ Auto Turning. My first hatch was 100%, 7 out of 7. The chicks are a week old and doing great. Hoping I have similar luck this go round but realize I'm dealing with shipped eggs instead of fresh eggs.. They were shipped on Jan 2 and I received them today Jan 5. I suck at gauging anything by candling this early in the game so my efforts today were fruitless. I can't tell if they have detached cells or what.. Don't know what to look for either so... here are some pictures.
Candling...
