I'm jealous! I love Salmon Faverolles!
Congrats and extend aI got a second one hatched yesterday, so maybe a pair!! I've never even seen one in person before but the pictures make them look so beautiful I can't wait til they are fully feathered. Since they actually hatched I read up on the breed & I 'll be able to feather sex from the wings at 2 wks age, they are dual purpose & reputed to lay well in winter so I'm even more jazzed now about this good luck. There are 4 more of these eggs over due now, not expecting any more to make it but these two beat the odds so I'm giving all the eggs extra time.
I have right now a total of 6 hatched from batches set to hatch 4/9 & 4/11
2 Salmon Fav. , 1 Fancy Polish, 4 EE poss. wheaten
AND yesterday the couple we took in had their BABY , girl 5#8oz -- very extream drama (65miles to the hosptial) emergency C section 20 mins after arrival at ER door, very close call but all turned out well.
Interesting too that we had a polish nursing intern helping keep dad calm while we waited for word from the OR, really nice young Asian/Polish guy named Leslie, & when we rushed out the door to the hospital I left behind a polish egg I had to external pip & figured it would not make it but instead it managed to hatch & was fine when we got back home in the middle of the night -- I intend it to be the Baby's very fist chicken, & pullet or roo it will be named Leslie. So how cool is that??!! : >
Actually, I haven't heard him crow yet. I haven't heard any of my "little" boys crow yet, but that may just be because my "big" boys are too loud.Lol Yes. Glad He Is Enjoying His New Coop Lol Does His Crow Still Sound SilLy lol
