Hatch-Along - setting eggs tonight or tom who's with me on this

Today is day 18 for me, so I will be locking down tonight. I also had a question about humidity. I know tonight I bump up the humidity to 80-85%, right? Once they start hatching, i was told you keep them in the incubator until they are dry, will the high humidity harm them??

Lots of wiggling and cheeping coming from the incubator!
I do dry incubation so I have my humidity around 64% right now. It will get higher when they start hatching though.
Congrats ChristyB! Keep us posted Banty

Well I have a still air incubator that I made in my home. I was told to keep my incubator at 55-65% from day 1-18, then on to bump up to 80-85%. I mean here in Houston, TX our humidity stays at 50% already, so its not hard to had a little water! But it seems like 85% is ALOT. I don't want to drown my little peeps when they hatch. I just threw two of the 8 out because I know they weren't good. They were basically clear all the way, I cracked them open and sure enough there was signs of development from the first few days, but nothing after. But I did see 5 moving for sure, then the 1 that i cannot tell.

Humidity must be incubator based because my incubator came with a chart to calculated relative humidity based on my incubator running at 99.5*. It has me keep my humidity at 40-50% during hatching and bump it up to 60-65 for hatching?! I had to take extra measures to get it that high too our house is very dry! I have a wash cloth folded in half saturated lying on the bottom and thats keeping it at 60%. I'm using a brinsea octagon that has a fan..if that helps.

. One of my partridge eggs has been pip'd since yesterday and seems slow moving. I can see him through the pip and he's still moving so thats good. They appear to be hatching by color haha all my Partridges are pip'd and then all i have left is my b/s eggs and my three Porcelains that I desperatley want to pip! The Porcelains are the ones I wanted most and of course they are gonna wait till last to show signs of life

Looks like my lavenders have some massive vaulted skulls :) too cute! the babies in the brooder are all snuggled up under a teddy bear!

My chick waited til the middle of the night to hatch. It looks like its going to be black laced. I'm afraid it is going to be a lonesome little fella though. I peeked at the other 4 eggs & can't see any movement & the veins have dried up. I am so disgusted with shipped eggs.

I'm so sorry about your hatch....shipping really stinks as far eggs not getting "scrambled". My aircells from the shipped eggs are all over the place, hoping though that they make it.

On the bright side, how cute is that little guy? He/she will have all of your undivided attention and really bond/imprint on you.
