Hatch-Along - Setting eggs week of Feb 4th..anyone else?

It's day 9 for us! Our eggs are so brown we don't see a thing when we candle.
It would be so encouraging to see a vein or something.

Day 9 for me as well. I'm candling black copper Marans eggs and i can see veins. Try using a Led mini flashlight with fresh batteries. I got a 2 pack of them for $3 at harbor freight. They work fantastically.

Day 8. I candled last night with an LED and saw veins, movement and even an eye or two! 1 out of our 12 looks clear and 2 we can't see through. (greens)

WOO HOO!!!

Wow - my eyeballs can't see that much detail. Need to order new ones.

It's day 7 for me, & I candled & weighed the eggs. So here's a question: How much weight should they lose in a week?
They weighed (on average) 2 oz. when I started them, and they have lost 1/8 ounce each. Is that 6% of the original weight? (Math is NOT my strong suit...)

My sebastopol goose egg is getting hard to see into. It's not very developed yet, the egg is just akward. It's on day 12, which is similar to a day 7 chicken embryo. I think I saw veining and the yolk seems to have expanded so thats a good sign.

I'd recommend getting a scale that weighs in grams; ounces aren't near as accurate. If you're using the ounces than yes, that'd be about 6% so I'd increase the humidity.
