Hatch day fears

if you can keep the ones with their bellies out separate and warmer than the others, sometimes they go into shock. give them time and they will absorb their bellies, plus new borns look all belly anyway.

I know what a baby chick looks like, but Robin's belly had quite some yolk still hanging out. So I put down a damp washcloth in one corner of the bator and I put Robin on the washcloth, and I think she is staying there. Hopefully that will help her absorb

when I had my son, his navel didn't want to heal, the doc told me to dry it out not make it wetter. I put a little rubbing alcohol on it. not a fan of a wet cloth because they get cold.

Thanks! What day are you on? I'm on the beginning of day 20! This is so exciting for me! I know I won't sleep very much tonight! Lol!

So far I have had 10 chicks hatch, but 2 might not make it. One of them for sure- it pipped te wrong end of the shell and had yolk sac and blood, probably won't make it. His breathing is labored and he is hardly moving anymore. The other yolkie might make it, he just has some yolk sac to absorb
