Hatch eggs treated with Antibiotics??

My chickens are on Duramycin for respiratory stuff. It is minor, but I got scared and treated them. I realize I have to throw away the eggs for 21 days past the last dose, but I have a broody girl and I was planning on saving her a few eggs to hatch. Can I hatch these eggs or am I better off waiting until the antibiotics have run their course?????

I do, I wait until at least ten days have passed after last dose of anti biotics then incubate them. I wouldn't eat them until recommended time has passed though. I haven't had problems hatching them, but I think it depends on the meds too.

i think it's obvious. don't incubate them. i know you want to which is why you're looking for a reason to do it, but, in my opinion, you should wait.

if you bought hatching eggs and found out the hen was on antibiotics, how would you feel? if your answer is the same as mine, wait the recommended time.

I have absolutely no clue..but why would antibiotics harm the eggs? I'm just curious. I mean, aren't all store bought eggs from hens that are treated with antibiotics? Unless you want organic, I'd think its fine. but then again I have absolutely no clue.

My thought process is as follows:
if it is so obvious, why not list the reason why?
If one should clearly know to wait the "recommended" time, what is that time-and what are the reasons/precautions in waiting/incubating?
I respect opinions, but to opine as opposed to inform is not always beneficial.
Would I eat eggs with a hen on antibiotics? - NO, I would wait. Because the antibiotics WILL be out of the system. It is not permanent in the bodies.
In my case, these chickens are pets and not good egg/meat producers, so I do not necessarily see a reason to not do it. Afterall, many women take antibiotics while pregnant and don't throw their babies away. I would never needlessly medicate a flock for prevention, but am I to believe that if ones child was diagnosed with a bacterial infection that one would deny antibiotics? (doesn't seem likely..)
Just saying...I am looking for a "why/why not." I appreciate opinions and experiences, and even respect those who acknowledge that they have no idea, and are just trying to help; but for the others who make a claim that one should/ought do something is only beneficial if one has evidence or information as to why one ought to do such a thing. (especially when an implication of known knowledge exists...it's just the only way it helps.)

Antibiotics often work by inhibiting the growth of fast living organisms. An embryo falls under the category of a fast growing organism. Sure, you can hatch, but your hatch rate may be low, and your mutation rate may be high. Most mutations will lead to no hatch due to dead embryo, but you do increase the chance of a "minor" mutation making it out alive.

I was wondering this same thing.I also wanted to know why you could not eat the eggs.,so I googled it and found if you are not allergic to antibiotics like penicillin you can eat the eggs.I would never give them to anyone else, just for my own consumption as I am not allergic.
