end of day 4 and there are veins in at least 90% of the Leghorns and i can see a ton of veins in the bantam mix egg from my mutt, Dolly!

i use a hygrometer. they are available in a reptile dept of a pet store or at walmart.

Day 5...out of 30 eggs, 28 are fertile. that's 93% fertility rate. not too shabby, for $10!
talked to the Farm Manager at Michigan State University today and he was happy with the rate. he info'd me that he AI's all of the hens. they pool the male product from several roosters and then inject.


out of the eggs from my girls, The Mutt Patrol, it looks like at least 4 of 5 are developing. but, that is looking through green and brown shells. i'll have to give them a little more time.


so, all in all, this is going well!
