words of wisdom? hmmm, um don't open the bator during lockdown/hatch?! lol
what's you humidity at now? It will go up as they pip but usually goes back down to where it was. For instance, i try to keep my humidity at 65%, it will go up by about a % per pip and stay that way until they hatch usually. that's not ALWAYS the case but for me, once they start pipping a small up in humidity usually means more pips.
this time I have humidity at 70%, not b/c of anything other than that's where it ended up and I didn't want to mess with it once I put all the eggs in oh and b/c i think it might have been low the last couple days. This morning I noticed the humidity had jumped to 74% but there are no pips yet so i'm not sure why it spiked, it's not even overly humid outside here today. Debating on trying to get some of the water out to try to lower it but I really do hate to mess with it at all once I've locked down.
has anyone been keeping track of eveyone we have here, hatch date and type? there are just sooo many posts now it's hard to sort through, can we maybe do a roll call?
I set my eggs on 5/12, 29 BBS Amer, locked 16 down on 5/29. Also threw in three others I'm pretty sure are bad but not absolutely sure (really, really hard to see into these guys)!
I set 11 eggs under a broody and 5 in the incubator on the evening of 5/13. I locked down all 5 in the incubator this morning. I haven't checked the broody's eggs at all.
I've posted to a couple of other "hatch-with-me" threads that were near my hatch date of June 3rd, but I just now found this one that is right on! I have my broody BO sitting on 5 SLW eggs, although this morning something scared her and she turned over her rubber-maid nest box, cracking one egg in the process.
The membrane didn't break, so hopefully it's okay. I tried candling it, but with my crappy little flashlight I couldn't see anything-- just all dark except for the air cell. I do know that on day 12 I saw all 5/5 kicking around in there, so hopefully we get a few that hatch. I'll also be adding 4-8 more chicks after these hatch. I should have given her more eggs, but she and I are both first-timers and I wasn't sure she would stay broody.
ANYWAY, 3 more days to go! Happy hatching everybody!

I am working on a list as we speak. I had one started, but didn't finish with it because my days got busy. I will have it posted shortly.
