our first one has hatched. He is now rolling all other eggs. Will that hurt anything?

Congratulations clingt....!!!! So cute!!! 3 or 4 more days till hatch date for me!!!! Hope all goes well for us all!!! Sorry I didn't post earlier..... u know.... I have 12th year high school and studies.... lol.... but rachmickmurfy is doing the job instead..... thanks rachmickmurfy!!!! I need to get pics of the nest and moma hen today when I force her off to eat drink poop and dust bath...

Six out of ten has hatched so far. Two mixes and four silkies.

they look great clintgt were your silkies the 1st out for some reason mine always hatch 1st. do they have vaulted skulls some of mine do. i heard muffled cheeps from bator this morning so i went out lol or i would hover over it get a sore back. Came home to 3 pipped eggs silkies probably another night time hatch wish these things would come out during daylight. Good luck with the others

Great job Clintgt!!! Cant wait to see mine start hatching... Culled three from the 26 last night (day 15) they just didnt look right, all the other 23 you couldnt see thru the shell, but those three were weird, I could see into them and I even saw movement but they just werent looking very far along so hubby and I did an eggtopsy on one and found a double yolk with a perfectly formed chick in the middle but way way under developed. It would have not made it thru lockdown I am sure so we removed the other two and opened them up and same thing, wish I would have thought to take pictures...

Nice!!! although I would rather have daytime hatches too lol, but its kinda like an expected baby, they never come on dates that are convieniant to mom and they almost always come in the middle of the night lol

34mins past midnight and the 1st one is out to keep us up all night rolling his mate's around will leave it there til I get up in the morning. Think I might start setting eggs at midnight to see if that changes things.

Yes I wish you took pics too. Did the eggs seem large compared to others I never set large eggs so never opened one like that.

Yes, being new to this I didnt realize until I had already put them in that although large eggs are nice for Breakfast they arent what you want for incubating.. It was weird, with two if them we couldnt even see the chick, it was wedged between the two yolks.. we moved things around and saw that it was perfectly formed but lagging way behind the others...
Maybe others will thing us bad for culling those three eggs, maybe I was wrong to do it, but I would rather let them go now then to watch them suffer thru lockdown knowing they probably didnt have a chance to hatch.
