All 5 are doing great. I'm going to take some more pics this week. I ended up with 3 cockerals and 2 pullets. They are at that awkward stage of growing feathers. I think my welsummer roo is going to be gorgeous. I love his coloring that's coming in, I just hope he will be a nice boy so he can stay.

I was using a really old incubator that didnt have the thing that you are supposed to put the eggs on so i put them around the outside and one drowned in thw water and the other just died for some reason idk. I put tape over the trays now and put holes in the tape

I did that due to the first baby struggled bad to climb out of took it over 24 hours to stand I didnt think it was going to live, but tonight all is well its eating drinking poo and standing. As for the others not so much happening, one pipped yesterday and the other 3 nota. I've left them in there for now, Will check tommorrow if nothing then i guess i will have to bury them. On the lighter side I did 18 Blue Copper and Black Copper Marans at Nationals for one of the ladies at the Maran table. Will set tommorrow.
Congrats on your babys OSUman GO BUCKS!!!!!!!

I've got four chicks out and two more pips out of 16 eggs. I hatched in an egg carton and my first chick really struggled to get out. But the next three hatched and popped right out of the egg carton and were all over the incubator. So I really think the issue was with the first chick. It hadn't completely absorbed its yolk before it hatched and I think it was just weak.

After expecting it to be dead this morning, it suddenly gathered strength, catapulted itself out the carton and is currently making a bunch of noise. I had to take two of the chicks out and put them in the brooder because they were starting to peck this weak chick and one that was newly emerged from its shell.

Everyone seems to be fine so far. Let's just hope it stays that way and the two pips hatch.

This is my little Peanut:

It's smaller and more vocal that the other chicks. They all look like barred rocks and I'm not sure what Peanut is. I've got two roos, a BR and an EE. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

I'll post other pictures tomorrow of the two chicks in chickie jail.

congrates Denise. I still am not using them. I am going to bury my little unhatch babies. No need to see what happened (dah they did) If bury them some future diggers (i dont know what you call them)
will uncover them and find a dark colored egg with a decest chick in them and Oh i wonder what happen? Deep I know. But anyways I will try again I bought 18 nice shape and color Marans eggs at the show setting today. Will be using dry incubation like they told me at National. I'm now it deleopment of this breed and what to be apart of making them APA standard approved.
