I love winter hatching. I love your bator line up too..and the poultry barn is awesome. Can't wait to see your babies.

I have sold a few, even given a handful away. Mostly we harvest the extra roosters and hope for the best with pullets as they grow out to become great layers.

I need someone to build me another pen, Jody. LOL

I really should stop reading these hatching posts! It's months yet before I dare fireup the bator and I'm itching without reading these posts.

I love winter hatching and brooding, it brings out the mother in me. Motherly instincts that is

I just set some eggs in my "new to me" used bator, that I got off of Craiglist. It's an older model of GQF Model 802 cabinet. Before I used my LG, did pretty good with it....but it was tempermental (no pun intended) at time, however this will be my first attempt at a multi species staggered hatch. Set 15 Dark Cornish on the 19th, today I will set quail and silkie eggs. The quail and Cornish should hatch around the same day, followed a few days later by the silkies.

MissPrissy, I followed the link to your barn.....cool. I love buildings with history, and wonder what stories they could tell. Good luck with you hatch, and have fun while you at it

No place to have a winter brooder. We don't have the nice mild temps you have. Single digits tonight! Can we hurry to spring?
