Hatching Call ducks thread

I’m having a bit of a dram with 3 others, one came out of the shell with a little bit of yolk still attached (no blood though) he’s currently in the Hatcher on his own drying off. Hope he will be ok. Two other eggs looked shrink wrapped as my other half told me he opened the bator. Could of killed him! I attempted assisted hatch but both had blood so put them on moist tissue and back into the bator and upper humidity. I’m leaving them to do their thing for a couple of hours. Both have a hole big enough for their beaks to be sticking out. Both are making chirping noises

First off...Did you assist the one still absorbing the yolk?..
Leave them as you did the others to hatch out themselves. Don't apply water to the shells as it has the opposite effect to eggs and draws out the moisture..up the humidity again and wait....

Are you sure it was yolk?

I think the hatching experts here recommend not covering with a moist tissue because it can actually chill them, instead they recommend coconut oil or Neosporin on the membrane I think.

@Ravynscroft , @WVduckchick , @Pyxis?

This is the little fella with the small bit of yolk. It’s fallen off now. I’m just letting him dry off. I didn’t assist him. Be zipped about an hour ago on his own

That's good news, that means it wasn't yolk. Let me see if I can find a picture.
