Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

I'm to the point of crying. I've had a bad headache today, so didn't check the incubator, which usually isn't a problem, but it just so happened to spike to 122. All 90 eggs are dead! I had my turkeys' first eggs, the last hopes of pekin duck eggs from my now dead drake, an assortment of eggs from the chicken ladies, and of course paint silkies, hen's choice silkies from the same person, my buff D'Uccles and BCM's from Ayeupchuck! Ninety babies in there and all dead now.

I feel so selfish for not checking it this morning. I know they're "just eggs" but I had just pulled all of the infertiles, so there were two flats of definitely fertile eggs, most close to hatch, plus all of the now grey blobs that were going to be babies in the newly set eggs. I feel like a mass chick murderer.

I am so sorry to hear this. How long was the temp that high? Did you candle the eggs to make sure they are all dead? If they weren't exposed for that long maybe you still have a chance?

I pulled the trays out and candled every single egg, just in case one lonely egg survived, but they were hot to the touch and everything had turned grey, no movement and only scant veins thar are now grey. They're all still in there. I don't have the heart to throw them in the garbage, so I'm waiting for G to get home to help me. He wants me to change the wafers out and look into an electronic thermostat, but they're too expensive. :(

We live in a rural community, there's only main road, and my kids go to a K-8 with only about 100 kids total.

Today, noonish, multiple police vehicles and an ambulance zoomed by, heading toward the school (about 15 miles from my house) The school must have gotten calls from parents because the kids came home from school with a letter explaining that a hunter had been lost and search and rescue had been dispatched.

I love rural living.

I am right there with you, Madam. I took two naps today and still felt like garbage even before the incubator. George is going to look at it and see what he can do. For some reason I don't understand electronics. I changed out electricity in the ex's house, but was guided the entire way and still didn't really understand it. :/

I get these migraines that don't go away. They've told me the next one that lasts more than a week or colors change for more than two days, MRI for me, but with no insurance, that just isn't happening. :/
