It's supposed to get to 60 here today!!!!! holy cow! I need an excuse to go home...do I feel a scratch in my throat? LOL

It's supposed to be nice theis weekend, too. very unseasonably warm!!!
maybe I can get the indoor pair of chicks out to enjoy it!

at what age do you guys put your chicks outside?...they will be 9 weeks this weekend. I am thinking it is time.

Depending on how feathered they are I throw them out at around 6-7 weeks, and it is alot colder here!

I couldn't until now because they've been in quarantine. but honestly, they never even seemed stressed at all....they just hang out perched on the top of the tupperware all day and chirp to each other. happy as clams.

need to rig up the introduction fencing again in the coop.

I have them together, right now I have an older silkie and serama chick in with chicks as young as 2 weeksI think the serama is about 14 weeks and silkie is 9-10 weeks old. Outside I have 1 year old bantam rooster, and an 8 mo old silkie roo with my now 11 week old chicks.

If they're like us in Louisiana/Texas...we hover under a fan with a beverage!

And I only cook in the crockpot or grill in Aug/Sept...forget the stove or the oven.

Good morning! I hope you have all awoken to a beautiful day. It is quite nasty here today. It's going to get to 74, but it has been raining since yesterday and isn't supposed to stop until Friday. We're projected to get up to 9 inches of rain!!! Do any of you talented people make flippers for chickens? It's going to be a terrible mess. Sigh.

70???? What do you do in August??

Last 2 summers, we were in the 100s.

I moved to NC from FL 3 years ago to escape the heat and with the promise that winters are mild. SOooo naturally we get here in Jan. of 2010, leave 70* FL and it is 19* in NC. 2 weeks later it snowed. The local swear that was the 1st snow in years ! Snowed 3-4 Xs and the summers are HOT & HUMID...Just like FL.
