Anyone ever have to stack eggs like that? I have talked to two people who said it will work just fine, but I am super nervous about the eggs getting caught between the racks and getting crushed.

I could have hatched some for you...:D

Well, I just set them a half hour ago!! Want to come hang out today, then bring some home for me?? :D

No, they'll just disappear haha. You can make them a run, with hardware wire. I don't. I grow them fodder, they love it... And the eggs taste even better!

I've done the stacking before, plus eggs beside the tuner. Just candle at a week and toss infertiles to make room. I've never had a problem with that method, though the ones out of the tuner had a bad fertility rate, whether that was my fault or just bad eggs, I don't honestly know. Either way, I see a cabinet incubator or a second hovabator in your future, lol.

Ugh, who here vaccinates? Other threads seem to move slow as sin and I'm too impatient and want to contineue my research, lol.

I talked to our state veterinarian about this. He says that every single chick that hatches should be vaccinated for Maerks disease. He said that is the most rampant disease that can be easily prevented. Newcastle/bronchitis can be vaccinated simply by putting it in their water. So, he said that was a very simple one and well worth it.

I just got another black Dutch egg from my girls, so I just set the two I have to check fertility.

I guarantee I will pull a LOT of quail eggs in a little over a week. I have gotten as high as 80% hatch on shipped quail eggs, but I wouldn't count on it.
Thanks for the input. I just checked on them, and the auto turner has moved and they all seem fine. I may rotate the eggs on day four or so, just to make sure they are all getting turned enough, but I think it will work well! I would love a cabinet, wish I had just purchased one to start with, but just can't afford it. Not even second hand.
