PO called me at 6am and I ran right over. Funny thing, I live in a small town, and I was not the only one who had chicks come in today!

When someone gets Black Bresse to share, mine! I can't do white birds, and I'm seething with jealousy over a sustainable meat flock.

I candled what I could of my eggs from Jim that took ten days (priority) to arrive. I do have eggs developing, and hatch is next week, so cross your crossables! And no December eggs ordering for me this year! If I want to do NYD hatch, they're coming from my own birds!

I'm so glad, I barely slept. I was worried about the little multi colored on. I still have 2 black frizzle hens I think when I send your next birds to meet . I knew they were too little. As far as I can tell you only have 1 Serama roo. I'm glad they made it. I sent 3 boxes that day, 1 arrived the next morning but 5 were dead. They think it got left out in the cold. It wasn't at their normal PO like it was supposed to be. I will send another batch. The 3rd box I'm waiting to hear. I have 2 splash orp hens from the west coast that should have been here yesterday. Hopefully today. Safe travels to everyone's eggs/chicks/chickens

Does everyone vaccinate their birds? Looking at Jeffers, it almost looks like they have a vaccine for all of the super scary stuff out there. I'm wondering if maybe it'd be a good idea to start vaccinating my birds. I don't have massive amounts of birds, but we'll be getting more organized with breeding and we'd be devastated to lose any of our pets. Some of the birds we have now are family! If I'm going to be shipping, selling and breeding, I'm thinking it might be worth the cost to minimize any risk of sick birds. Does anyone hve any insight? Oh, we are big on free-range, so I assume that increases our risk with wild birds and such.

So sorry to hear about the ones that did not make it.

Let me tell you I was holding my breath until I heard the first peeps from the box. Good thing I only live 2 miles from the PO! I did not even get dressed, threw a coat on over my pjs and ran! They are so adorable though! My first frizzles! Too cute!
