Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

I incubate in a Leahy 624 redwood the old beast is 70+ years old and has been known to hatch 100% on shipped eggs. I used the dry hatch method only putting in a pan of water when the eggs are pipped. I stagger hatches and even turkey, quail, duck, guniea all at the same time as my chickens. The only problem I have had is when the humidity is really high outside I have had a problem getting it down in the bator. Most of the Summer I hatched without adding the water pan.

KYTinpusher, I have 6 swaps for this week. Two from Wayne three total from CPL and one from Kraftyladies

I too dry incubate everything. My Marans love dry incubation and everything else seems to too. I keep the humidity at about 30% give or take. I had the same problem in the summer. I put one of those things that dry your closet and get the humidity out. I don't know that it worked but the humidity did come down shortly after I put it in. I found some at a dollar type store and have 3 just waiting for the next time. I have LOTS of 100% hatches.... not so much on shipped eggs but still good hatches.

I brought my humidity down to around 30% also had have had much much better results.

At lockdown I don't worry about humidity. It is usually at about 60% when I put them in but I have seen it up to about 80% when they start hatching.

I missed your swap for the LF frizzle cochins! would you be able/willing to sell me some eggs? I hatched a few last spring and now have 3 hens. I have no roo, frizzle or otherwise! Thanks!

I'll be posting some info about it shortly! It's intended to cover swaps that are unfulfilled due to hardship...
