I can't remember who posted on the Flexi Watt, was it Donna? I'm going to try to resurrect a home made cabinet style hatching box. How much Fex Watt do I need? I found it at incubatorwharehouse.com. The website says it's designed to get an area warm but not hot. Is there a preferred orientation for installation? Do I line the walls, or line the floor? I think the real problem with my hatching box is a faulty thermostat so I'm also replacing that, but I thought the Flex Watt would provide a more constant heat source rather than having the light bulb contantly clicking on and off. Or have I lost my mind?
It was me. I use it in my bator and hatcher. I have it on the walls, but have seen it on the bottom and up the side walls. You have to put something fire proof behind the flex what. It can get up to 133 degrees and has caused some fires, but that was mostly faulty wiring. I have to use a light bulb too. The flexwatt almost gets it but not quite. It needed a little help. The big bator was not keeping up in the winter so I also added the bottom part of a dehydrator with a heating element. It is working PERFECT since then. Much better than before. It flashes on an off frequently so the temps don't fluctuate much.
Here is the hatcher with flexwatt. Mine is the 12 inch and there is about 6-7 feet of it. One day I am convert the lights to one of those wire heating elements so the light is not coming off and on all the time.
