My son did it. I am sure I could have figured it out. I just don't like to have to think about things if I don't have to.

He loves it I don't. I would take pics but it is in a project box from radio shack.

I noticed that it displays temperatures in C - are there any out there that do F? Or are those the expen$ive ones? I guess I will have to write the C to F conversion rate down and post it somewhere nearby so I can remember what the temperature is supposed to be.. I don't think in C well.

I did see that is is supposed to come with a wiring diagram - so it will tell you where to put the incoming electrical wires and which terminals to use for attaching to the "load" or heater coil. I found a double diagram for wiring it for using in a brewing refrigerator online, I would just eliminate the "cooler" side (if anybody wants this diagram let me know). I would also want to make sure the electrical relay would work with the heater coil used in my bator and if the relay volts/amps are high enough for that type of heater coil. I know this is probably the stuff you don't want to think about, but I don't have a son to do the thinking for me, so I gotta think.

Well, dang it, the kids were NOT okay. I have a skunk that's picked off a few of my chickens over the months and tonight it killed my one Jersey giant. I need a kill trap. And to build a coop not infiltratable by wildlife, but I want this sucker DEAD. Anyone have any suggestions?
EEGADS didnt know skunks would harm a chicken!!
Last night i woke up about 3 am windows shut i smelled that smell. Thought i might be dreaming went to the front door and yep. Skunk
Wondered would they hurt them... didnt think so
Now i am worried
Skunks .....cant shoot them hit them or chase them or put the dog on them ..the smell!
And a vet told me many carry rabies! AND they are not afraid of humans AT ALL Bad news.

It is kinda set it and forget it thing. It is C. I have a chart in the room in case I need it.... but it works so well I just make sure it is on LOL. You can adjust the temp swing too. You can tell it how low to get before it kicks on and how high to go before it turns off. LOVE THAT! I do have other digital temp and humidity readers in the hatcher and bator... just so I KNOW the temps are right. Mostly for humidity.

One day I will set up an exhaust fan JUST IN CASE. Since it does BOTH might as well have the safe gaurd.

Quote: Skunks will hurt chickens... very much. We had a flock of about 15 pullets wiped out in one night by a skunk. They were sleeping on the floor and the skunk came in and sucked out all their brains. Just the brains - through their ears. It was gross. One survived - but it would walk sideways and always got tripped over, until one day somebody couldn't avoid it and it got stepped directly on. Get rid of the skunk. I used the smallest have-a-heart trap and drown them. No heart, I know - but if you had seen that pile of dead half grown chickens - you wouldn't let them have a chance either. They will also eat eggs - but that wouldn't have bothered me as much. If you drown them they won't spray - you might get a bit of residue in the water - but dump it out and cover it with dirt - it goes away.

I'm good with that solution. Just need a trap.
