As The Egg Rolls - The saga continues......

ME - Dear 112oaks,
Eggs arrived today - Not a pretty site....

112oaks - Not much I can say to that...what did the postal service say about it? They should be held responsible for boxes that look like they have been ran over. I'm going to print off these pictures to show my postman. Thats ridiculous!

ME - Dear 112oaks,
The USPS is not responsible unless you purchased insurance on t boxes. They were careless with the package, but you did not have the eggs wrapped and that was a major part of the problem. I feel you should either issue me a refund.

112oaks - you can not purchase insurance on eggs. and did you not see the box . it dont matter how they were wrapped nothing would save them eggs

How does one respond to that!!!!
With negative feedback and no more of my time. You can argue with him until you are blue in the face. He's not going to see he was wrong.

Okay tired and going to bed. Jeannie's carrier is definitely going out tomorrow. Fulimene's eggs as well as COFs. Above is a picture of one side of swindledana's carrier the other side will be similar an there's still a tiny bit of detail to do on it but that's it for the most part. Hope you like it!

Yours is up next Walli just letting it sit in clamps tonight to let the glue dry properly! Will see just how much they cost to ship tomorrow though it won't be priority. Hope that's not a biggie! Well unless eggs are shipped with them of course!
That is beautiful. I love it.

Okay, it's hatch day for some German New Hampshires...and nothing has happened. Usually I get at least pips, if not chicks, on day 20. Nothing. Out of a dozen eggs, four were clears, but the rest showed development. I don't have a good light and can't see development; just the dark blob.

So far, I'm doing very poorly with shipped eggs. Out of 48 eggs set (not counting these), I have seven chicks. That's pretty low. Granted, the box with thirty was the one the USPS played keep-away with for ten days, but still. I had high hopes after testing this incubator on BHep's eggs and getting 100% hatch. I'm feeling depressed tonight, because I was hoping to come home to chicks, and I got nothing.

Sigh.

It could just be the time of year. That's what I am telling myself anyway. I did an experiment with my own eggs that I set on the 22nd. I included eggs from that day which I collected at 32degrees...just to see what the temp would do to eggs I knew were fertile and undamaged. both are clear. so my conclusion is that even if the box is handled with kid gloves this time of year if it travels anywhere with low temperatures there's a chance the egg can be disabled by the cold.

I am starting to think I might run out of room in the bator. Those others need to hurry and hatch so I can have more room

That seller is SOOOO full of crap that it's not even funny. You should've seen the box I got from Gabrielle. It looked like a bunch of drunken men had played football with it, yet I got a 100% hatch rate from the seven serama eggs she sent (the quail were infertile), and not a single egg was even cracked. It wasn't even just the corners that were smashed, the one side of the box had been completely collapsed. I really should have taken a picture of it. File a paypal claim, and leave negative feedback... "eggs weren't even wrapped, arrived completely destroyed, seller an idiot and unwilling to replace his sorry excuse for a mucked up shipping job" Okay, so that won't fit, but still, make sure you mention he never wrapped the eggs and is being a moron about replacing. And, at this point? Get the refund, don't even bother with a reshipment, then buy the same breed/variety from someone on here for cheaper, who isn't too stupid to wrap them in bubble wrap! Ugh. What's his feedback like? I always take the time to research their feedback, and I always give detailed feedback myself, letting people know how many they sent, how many arrived intact and then update it later with how many hatched. I always do that, because that's what I'd personally like to see in feedback, so I can make an informed purchase. Sounds like this person just started shipping and hasn't a lick of an idea what they're doing and is too stubborn to realize that they totally screwed up! I remember when I first started shipping, I did research, had some eggs shipped to me first to figure out what packing method seemed to be the most popular and offered the most protection, THEN, I offered free eggs for the cost of shipping as shipping testers, to be sure that I was shipping properly. I even did that with my soaps, candles and bath bombs... I GAVE THEM AWAY to some people to test shipping (in fact, I think I even paid for shipping), just to be sure that a paying customer wasn't going to open a package of garbage. Arg. Now I'm upset with the seller for not taking even the simplest precaution of researching how to ship the stupid eggs before shipping them!!!

I still check my wicker chair on the porch when the mail lady drives past, even though I KNOW I don't have anything coming until after we move. Crazy habit, I guess, lol.
