Do you get strange looks to when "dealing" chickens in the parking lots????????????

Its always fun to make the "Parking Lot" exchanges. First you park in any area that has NO OTHER AUTOMOBILES so they "buyer" will be able to see you. Then "they" pull in driving really slow as if they are staking out the place and then "you park as close as possible" to keep the chicks/chickens from being "exposed" to the cold any longer than necessary. I always get a good giggle out of it because there is ALWAYS folks that will stop and watch.

It's even more fun after dark!! Then your under the street lights.....

I plan to have her sectioned off in a small part of the kitchen while I'm at work. There will be puppy pads put down. Once she gets a bit older we'll start crate training her. She's just too young to start right now with the hours I'm gone during the day for work. If I worked closer to home it would be fine. Dog daycares out here cost a fortune since we are talking small towns and rural areas.
You will be fine sectionning off. Put the pads down everywhere. Cause she is so little, she will not have a preference , she will just go where she is. As she gets older, you may start to see a "special" spot. Gradually reduce the pee pads to just that one area. Once the area is established, you can slowly move the pee pads to your preferred area. If your space is big enough, put her crate in there too... so she can get used to it on her own terms. Puppies usually go after eating, so you can start your outdoor training after breakfast and dinner.

OMG - Just looked at Keiths Orps page..... I think I'm in LOVE

The Chocolate Silver Orpingtons are two of the most beautiful birds I have ever seen. They are so fluffy they look like a stuffed animal you just need to pick up and hug.....

yes it is pretty bad when the cops have to come by to see what you are doing and then laugh when you show them the chickens!

Really Officer we are just selling and exchanging chickens!
What was the funniest is when I went up to pick up my redwood brooder out of the Walmart parking lot. Hardly anyone there do to a very nasty snow and ice storm which made the 34 miles trip very long. Wind blowing, ice, snow, nasty roads. The seller parks WAY in the back and we get out freezing our bums off. He pulls back the tarp in his pickup I look in and then hand him the money. another guy gets out and helps load what looks like to every one else a big box into the back of my s10 blazer. We get a cop come by that said he was watching us and HAD to see what we were doing. "really it's just an incubator" Yes and incubator for chicken eggs, really. Had to get it back out and show him!

He couldn't figure out WHY we would be out in such weather to pick up something like that!!!!
Oh, it was night too under the street light!

I bought a speed controler from a industrial supply store..... but it does NOTHING to slow the motor down. I need a mechanical whiz ..... My motor was slowed down by the gears in the rotisserie thing....but it is stripping the plastic gears. We were told to use a reostat to slow the motor down, but the thing they sold me is not working enough. I don't need it slowed TONS but it is just too fast with out something to slow it down. I think it will give me scrambled eggs if I don't. A 35-50% reduction would make me VERY happy.

I NEED my bator to work right again..... just KILLING ME with all those eggs in there

That is one of the best "parking lot" stories of all times. Between that and the Piglets - that was great too!!

Can't get drugs off the street, but can spot suspicious "chicken people" a mile away. We must look guilty or desperate!!

They passed a law here that you can't sell animals on the side of the road.... puppies usually. BUT they included chickens in that law.

Sorry to hear you are still having problems.

What size gear are you looking for? Do you have a picture? Who knows, maybe one of us has something sitting around the house that could help you out.
