Nicole is on her way to the ER. It worries me that it was wire buried combined with chicken poop, etc. I am sure they will culture it do some labs and start some abx. Better to be safe than sorry.

As far as my new babies there are gold laced, jubilee, and a few more chocolate. More to come, but I am not sure when, maybe next week. I need more room. I just hatched out 7/8 CCL from Madamwlf, and got another white one in this bunch! Awesome!!

Heat?! What's that? I think the low tonight is going to be 1 degree here! Today is the warmest day I see in the 10 say. I think we may have broke 30.

Yup, Wisconsin weather is just yuck right now, and I'm originally from Minnesota. It's funny hearing that it was too hot for the chickens this time of year for us frozen cickles up north.

Oregon weather is just wacky. Today is was cloudless and 58. Tomorrow it could be 32 and sleeting. Regardless of the weather, I have to keep telling myself - no planting until Mother's day.

I put my new lavender rooster in with a few of his ladies tonight. I hope all goes well in the morning. He is very laid back. I'm afraid he isn't even going to do his job this breeding season. We shall see. I get a new rooster every year. This one is the most mellow I have ever had. He doesn't even mind the dog walking up to him and sniffing.

Ok my second NJ just hatched, and it looks like his back is split open!!!! Right at the spine there is a half inch long split in the skin! Has anyone ever seen this before? This chick hatched completely by himself, no help from me.
