Here at the ER. Thank you for all the advice. I would have been a panicking mess all night and ended up here anyway. I marked his foot at 7, and it actually looks like it went down a little , well actually e but of course we are going to have to pay a lot of money for peace of mind at the least.

Nicole is on her way to the ER. It worries me that it was wire buried combined with chicken poop, etc. I am sure they will culture it do some labs and start some abx. Better to be safe than sorry.

As far as my new babies there are gold laced, jubilee, and a few more chocolate. More to come, but I am not sure when, maybe next week. I need more room. I just hatched out 7/8 CCL from Madamwlf, and got another white one in this bunch! Awesome!!

Kids are settled with pizza and a movie. I'm getting ready to work on an assignment for my farm management class. The evening has been better than the day. I opened the mail and found a cash-back check from our business amex card.

It was way more than we expected. We decided to split it and spend it on what ever we want.

So now I have $100ish to spend on whatever I want - which of course are chickens. Do I swap it all? Do I buy chicks? suggestions?

Well that is incredibly sweet of you, but I couldn't possibly ask for money.

I know one thing. I will be spending all day tomorrow shoveling sand into the 4 wheeler an dumping it in the chicken run to completely cover the wire again. no one to blame but myself.

You may want to check to see if the hospital has any programs for free care or reduced rate care. Many moons ago when we didn't have insurance we did not qualify for state/federal help but the hospital itself had a program that we qualified for which cut the bill in 1/2.

The little duckling has been dropped off with its new mama. No one told me ducklings were so stinking cute.

Sah, I hope your little one is feeling better really soon. It's amazing how quickly kids bounce back from feeling bad.

Here are some pics of the chick. Is there anything I can do?

The rooster I have now had a wound like that as a chick from getting pecked by a crazy broody. I just put a dab of neosporin on for a few days and he turned out fine. I also kept him with just one other chick till the major redness went away. Lol however he does have a baldish spot where his down sticks out on his back cause no pin feathers ever grew in that area.

I would say watch it and maybe it will heal on its own.
