I would tell him your right dear...I will get a 10x10 coop built! Thanks for helping me decide ;)

See bigger is better!!

Yeah my hubby made all kinds of snooty and smirky remarks as I built a little breeder coop for my sons RIRs 5 or 6 years ago. When I got the ducks and geese he did the same. Now he just tells me not to build them so heavy as it's hard on his tractor to move them. I like them sturdy man. This year all new stuff goes on running gear.

You can get some pretty good plans from NDSU ag dept. if you can't figure out materials list just go to a builders supply and bat your eyes. Works like a charm when I want all that stuff taken to my car too. Course I'm a it of a crip.

LOL! He's being such a pain about it. Apparently, he's thinkin it'll be some 12ft tall building. Like, just stop thinking about it, give me your bank card and don't think about or look at it until it's done. Problem solved! Then he started complaining about the brooder birds, how I should've waited til we moved. Like, hello, we're talking about the outside birds only, so don't bring up brooder birds, as they aren't what's holding the move up! They won't need private breeder runs until late summer, so we just need a shed for the lot of them... problem solved. He just wants to think everything is more difficult than it is. PLUS, I have been after him for shelving for the garage. He finally said, do whatever you want, pulled his card out and then went to the gym. So, I'm going to just ask for the card tomorrow, figure out shelving and building supplies and borrow the full size truck and go round everything up while he watches the kids, LOL!

Lol. Never underestimate what a girl can get done by herself. Especially at a "man's" store. They all fawn over you like you'll break if you pick up a 2x4. Silly men! I let them though, less work for me, lol!

So we are looking to set up some of our breeds into separate coops for the coming breeding season. Just curios what people would be interested in. We love our mutts the best, but know that not everyone appreciates that. We also aren't that great with knowing what is and isn't desired for show quality. I'll be totally honest I really don't know what I'm doing there.

Anyway the breeds we would be looking at this year are as follows.

Silver spangled hamburger

Wellsummer

Dark Cornish (1 rooster is a monster the other is very nice sized. The monster is too big for my son to pick up and we may cull him because he keeps trying to mate the Minorca's and the Leghorns with disastrous results. Fatty rolled over and skinny was a wet spot on the pavement).

Red laced white Cornish. Some of these may be crosses between the two Cornish. Not my doing just something I have observed. I got the eggs last year.

We also have FBCM but I don't see the very dark eggs of others. I was told they would be, but not one has been super dark. They are sweet and pretty birds though with great personalities. We have two roosters that we got from a breeder that shows. The hens were from eggs bought on BYC.

We also have a young trio of Aseels. They won't be laying until summer sometime. These are super sweet birds. I raise them for someone else and he lets me keep what I want. He will be bringing me more chicks as they hatch, so I will be growing this line. Our oldest just left and he was never aggressive with our other males. He was breeding our mutts long before he left, and mingling just fine in the two winter coops. I was worried I would have to tether him, but never had an issue. He was very tall.

We have quite a few other breeds, but no roosters to go with them right now or no hens for the roosters. They do make pretty mutts. We also have many blue egg layers as I crossed all my am with a splash blue Andalusian to enhance the blue last year.

I can only get two pens set up until the weather warms and I can dig some out. So I'm just wondering if there is any interst in these.

Thanks

:frow   everybody! I just got back from CPL's with a car CRAMMED full of birds and goodies. I tell ya, you REALLY want to go help her muck out coops sometime -- you never know what you'll come home with! Just spent the last hour and a half getting everyone into temporary housing and fed and watered and all my beasties here checked up on and stocked and stroked and petted and scratched... I'm exhausted!

Good heavens, I'm NEVER going to manage to catch up on the last three days' posts, but I'm going to at least make the attempt in a bit after I get something to eat.

I have pictures even. I think she shoved a last second Serama into the glove compartment.

Ok so get ready to start stalking her I sent her home with

Trios of

Rhodebars
CCL
Barred LF Cochins - anyone I owe LF barred Cochins to please contact Daphne, BHep was the only one I coud think of

Soon she will have before the end of the month a trio of basque and a pair of blue Isbars. I am hoping to find her another hen.

Oh and she has a pair of SFH and Walli brought her 7 more juvies, we had to arm wrestle for them, I let Daph win. ;). I got some SFH to hatch. I can't remember if there was anything Else think about 4 dozen eggs.

I can't for the life of me remember what else.

Or what she got last time except the Seramas??
