This is the funniest story ever.

DH and I are contemplating purchasing a Dickey or Sportsman. However, I am confused about the hatching process in these--if we get the models with the three trays for incubation and the one hatcher tray in the bottom, doesn't the rise in humidity for the hatching tray on bottom affect the eggs still incubating in the upper trays? Will I need to add a 5 gallon bucket of water to keep the humidity up or is it simple enough to keep the humidity monitored by hand? Please offer me advice before I go spending more money on chickens...

DH is literally in TSC this morning killing time and texting me--"Hey, they've got another incubator on sale in here." I responded with, " Well, if you buy another, that's three total and if you've spent almost $500 on three regular incubators, you might as well be buying me a cabinet incubator and be done with it!" Come on income tax refund...I think I may win this battle.

We have a Dickey, love it, but dont hatch in the lower hatching tray. We bought it used, otherwise I wouldnt have the unit with the hatching tray. I do lay hand turned eggs in the hatching try and use it that way though.

We have two redwoods, one is all incubating one is all hatching. Then we have the new cabinet we have to go get this Sunday its incubating or hatching which ever we chose to do. Its main purpose is for goose eggs we hand turn anyways.

I like to hatch away from incubating so I can clean the hatcher between lockdown sets of eggs. This way we set new eggs weekly and never worry about not getting stuff properly clean.

we have two brinsea eco 20 and a styrofoam too if we REALLY need overflow space lol. The brinsea are used as nicu bators if an eggs is way behind. Or for the emu eggs that lower temps and FOREVER to hatch

That's what I did. Perfect for my goose and Muscovy eggs. I am gonna use my mini fridge for hatching holds temp and humidity perfectly even in winter. Just doesn't fit auto turners well

Yep, we place goose and the FW Scovy duck eggs in the lower tray and hand turn them. It works great like this for us.

I am so excited, and it isn't even on my behalf.
Last week I sold some BCM chicks to a couple, and they asked me if I had heard of Dixie rainbows. I hadn't but told them I would look into it.
I went to ace hardware to look through the chicks, and sure enough, they had some Dixie rainbows! I called up the lady and she was so happy that I found her some.
I love making people happy. Wish I could do it more often.

Dixie Rainbows is a meat bird and only one hatchery sells them. Mt Healthy I do believe.

Yeah... well, my bator was supposed to be empty after today, then turned off for a week for upgrading and cleaning when we moved. In all reality, I have your last shipment in a friend's bator at my new house and will be moving 15 more eggs over, then rushing around to upgrade, clean and move the cabinet to accept three or four or maybe even five more packages of eggs, LOL! So much for not having any eggs for a week!!!

I however think I'm in trouble cause I just bought 4 emu eggs off eBay. My Fiance is gonna murder me. I needed 4 though chicken math applies to emus as well right? I might get 2 to hatch now.

I sure hope your back starts feeling better quickly, Shellie. That is total agony for me. Did you do an ice cycle yesterday?

I've let all my guys sleep in, but it's time to wake them now. My DH is fine but has to get out the door for work. My 2 sons have the flu and need to wake up for meds and temp checks. It's been a little wild around here. My mom was admitted to the hospital yesterday because her heartbeat was so irregular and meds weren't helping. I can't go see her because the kids have the flu. I'm ready for everyone to be well!

Get a dickey incubator only. Use the other 2 incubators you have for hatching. Hatching in a cabinet will dirty it with chick fluff not to mention it's not easy to incubate and hatch in the same unit.
